NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas –  Dozens of law enforcement officers have raided the Texas headquarters a power wheelchair and scooter company as part of an investigation into alleged fraud.

Authorities on Wednesday carried out a search warrant at the New Braunfels offices of The Scooter Store. Company officials didn’t immediately return messages for comment Thursday.

Timothy Menke with the Office of the Inspector General says the investigation involves his agency, plus the Department of Justice, the FBI and the Texas attorney general’s Medicaid fraud unit. An FBI spokesman declined comment.

The Scooter Store earlier this month cut 150 jobs and blamed pending government changes in claims processing and reimbursement. The company in September laid off about 220 workers, citing a drop in Medicare reimbursements.

"Meanwhile, you are firmly in control. If (actually, when) you experience problems with poverty, crime, gangs, lack of urban development in cities where you have a black mayor, a black congressman, a black city manager, a black superintendent of schools, a black county treasurer, a black chief of police, a black fire chief, blacks on the county Board of Supervisors, blacks on the school board, etc., find ONE white man, preferably a Republican to blame for all those problems. If one doesn’t exist, don’t be afraid to refurbish one, even if you have to blame Republican Presidents George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Herbert Hoover, or T.R. Roosevelt."

not mother is diabetic, she was getting supplies from 4 different agencies, and no matter how many letter and phone calls we made on top of sending back to 3 of them they continued to send them. It was frustrating.

… the CBO has been saying for the last 5 years, here is and easy $150 billion per year we could save with some easy oversight and cut of duplicate agencies doing overlapping work. That’s doesn’t even count the Medicare and Madicaid fraud which is another $80 to $120 billion per year … and President Obama takes no action, no Presidential Executive Order … The scooter store is in trouble because they blamed the ObamaCare Medicare cuts for the layoffs.
