How do you close ObamaCare for business? That essentially is what the White House is doing, after touting how people had to have it.
Four years in the making, and all kinds of pressure to get people enrolled, then SILENCE?!
Now the much bally-hooed healthcare panacea has closed its enrollment period….period! For the millions of healthcare groupies willing to trample each other just to get a look at ObamaCare, they will have to wait until the next show.
ObamaCare has SOLD OUT! There may be a little “standing room,” however most people will have to wait until the end of the year to sign up for healthcare coverage–when the next enrollment period comes around. This includes enrollment outside of the exchanges, too.
“It’s all closed down. You cannot buy a policy that is a qualified policy for the purpose of the ACA (the Affordable Care Act) until next year on January 1,” John DiVito, president of Flexbenefit, said.
John Goodman, of the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas, also chimed in saying,
“People are not going to be able to buy individual and family policies, and that’s part of ObamaCare. And what makes it so surprising is the whole point of ObamaCare was to encourage people to get insurance, and now the market has been completely closed down for the next seven months.”
Remember when those who opposed Obamacare, from the beginning, were accused of wanting to deny millions of people healthcare coverage? Consider the following quip from Jim Hightower:
“But now, their anti-government, anti-Obama obsession has turned into insanity. Acting as though the USA is nothing more substantial than a banana republic, this tea party clique of petty potentates has forced a shutdown of our national government. The craziest part of their stunt is the duplicitous claim that finally providing health care for millions of uninsured Americans will have, as one leader of the mad-dog pack put it, “horrific effects.”Yet, even as they publicly insist that they’re heroes for trying to save the people from the horror of receiving fairly decent health coverage, the GOP hierarchy is quietly warning its members that defeating Obamacare now is essential to their own health. Why? Because they know the program will work, providing better care and nearly universal coverage at a cheaper price. It will become widely popular, and any politico who tries to kill it later will become wildly unpopular. Even the Senator from Oz, Ted Cruz, understood that the program had to be aborted before it was born. It will be so loved, Cruz candidly conceded (as he desperately tried to suffocate Obamacare with a painfully-long filibuster), that the public will be “hooked” on it for the long haul.”
And hooked they are, as ObamaCare became so desperate to hit the mystical magical 7M mark, that they actually began filling out forms for people without their knowledge.
Consider that the Obama administration began celebrating, knowing that tens of millions of people would be locked out of the health insurance market for the rest of the year. Sounds to me like they are shutting things down, rather than have to deal with the reality of knowing there is no clamor for ObamaCare, a piece of legislation so good, Obama can’t quit trying to sell it.
Only around 25 percent of subsidy-eligible people signed up for health insurance, according to Robert Laszewski of Health Policy Associates. This means there are approximately 13 million subsidy-eligible people who have not yet signed up for health insurance. You know you have a pig on ice, when those who can profit from ObamaCare smell a rat.
So between now and the next enrollment period at the end of the year, millions will be without ‘universal’ health coverage. I say to those who are locked out, Obama has done you a favor.
