“Not my child,” is the cry of many parents. But the fact is, most parents don’t really know their children.

You try to know them, but there is always eventually “the reveal.”

In my case, I found out that my oldest son was beating up bullies at school who were extorting weaker kids. The school had a no fighting policy, so I figured my kid wasn’t fighting. He was, albeit for a good cause.

And there were more “reveals” with my sons as they became men, and began telling me of their shenanigans; thankfully all just light-hearted things, for the most part.

Though I have only had small “reveals,” I learned to not jump to the “Not my child!” conclusion.

Yet, that’s what America does, and it seems to be worse with black America.

Recently, actress Taraji P. Henson apologized for claiming her son was racially profiled during a traffic stop in Southern California last year. Henson likely would have propagated this lie, had the Glendale Police Department not released dash cam video of the encounter Friday, which contradicted her son’s claims.

The Police released the footage after Henson commented about the alleged profiling in an Uptown Magazine interview published last month. According to CNN,

In her interview, the star of the hit television show “Empire” said her son, Marcell Johnson, 20, was racially profiled in Glendale and at the University of Southern California, where she accused campus police of stopping him for “having his hands in his pockets.”

So in other words, Henson believed the LIE that her son told her and millions of other for over a year. That very lie put the Glendale cops under undeserved scrutiny, and helped to fuel the “hands up” lie from Ferguson.

As CNN continues,

After her son’s claim, she vowed to send him to Howard University in Washington instead.

“I’m not paying $50K so I can’t sleep at night wondering is this the night my son is getting racially profiled on campus,” she said.

Even the University of Southern California stepped in, with its public safety director, John Thomas, saying he was disturbed by the report of the profiling, and was investigating it further.

“We encourage reporting of allegations of bias and I hope for the opportunity to have a conversation with the young man and his mother,” Thomas said.

So her son lies about what happened, and Henson condemns the cops AND the university, then threatens to send her son to Howard. Why Howard? Because it’s an all black college, and that will save him. Save him from what? Himself?

Let’s have that conversation, America, the very same conversation that Howard Schulz, CEO of Starbucks wants so badly. Because the conversation should begin with,

“Black Liberals need to stop jumping to conclusion about what is happening to your kids, And black kids need to STOP LYING on cops!”
