You’ll Never Guess Who the Democrats are Abandoning Now

In a continued effort to escape their brand stink, the Democrats of Maine have decided to abandon their history (again) that might come off as distasteful to those who hold themselves to be banner carriers for the Democrat party.

According to the Bangor Daily News yesterday, the annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner for the Democrat Party of Maine will be renamed this year, after almost a year of consideration, per their Executive Director Jeremy Kennedy. {Hmmm, Kennedy…Kennedy…that rings a bell.}

“Over the last year, the conversation has gained some more seriousness and depth and several other states have led the way,” Kennedy said. “It is an event where we honor our party, our values and our leaders, and the name of that event and everything it signifies should reflect those things as well. We have realized that the name Jefferson-Jackson does not adequately do that.”

Democratic parties around the country have long titled their annual dinners “Jefferson-Jackson,” but there has been a recent move away from that name. According to an article in The Atlantic and other news reports, at least four states — New Hampshire, Connecticut, Missouri and Georgia — have changed the name of their dinners. Party leaders in South Carolina, Iowa and Tennessee also are considering changes.

The inconvenient truth of two of our former presidents, Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson, and their own lifestyles don’t play well in this day, when the Confederate flag has become the bastard child of our country’s Southern heritage, ergo banished to the dustbin (or museum display case).

Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd president, was a slave owner and may have fathered a child with one of his slaves. That sole fact overshadows the rest of his stellar accomplishments that fostered the founding of our country, including co-authoring the Constitution. He specifically addressed slaves to help them transition back into our country as free men, instead of leaving them enslaved, or worse simply freeing them with no means to help them gain citizenship and other necessary provisions. Jefferson did this knowing that his own economic standing might suffer from this lost workforce for his property.

Andrew Jackson, our 7th president and the founder of the Democrat Party was an “Indian-hater” who fought the Creek Indians at Horseshoe Bend in 1814 and drove the Seminole Indians into Spanish-held Florida. Though a vile man, he took in many children to care for including Lyncoya, a Native American girl whose mother was killed in battle.

So despite these men being anti-Indian, slaveowners, they had a redeeming quality or two.

But since we’re at whitewashing the Democrats’ history, let’s not stop with two racists. We should add Johnson to the list of names. After all, the Andrew Johnson was a vile racist, who hated black people and is responsible for the KKK. The so-called Father of Modern-Day Civil Rights, Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ), was the prototypical Southern Democrat racist, who quipped, [pp]

“I will have those n*ggers voting Democrat for the next 100 years!”

Both Andrew and Lyndon were “Johnsons,” and I do use the term in the vernacular. But wait, as there are more.

How many other names will the Democrats remove? Wilson, Clinton, Obama? All racists.

And then there is that Kennedy. Who was it; JFK? Yes, I believe he voted against the 1957 Civil Rights Act. And his brother Bobby, who quipped, [pp]

“I don’t lose any sleep at night worrying about the plight of colored people.”

If the Democrats keep this up, there will be NO history of Democrats. But then again, that’s their plan!
