Hillary Clinton Asked to Step Aside

Apparently Hillary Clinton is so corrupt, even people in Chicago want her to step aside.

What a wake-up call. As John Cass of the Chicago Tribune writes,

Has America become so numb by the decades of lies and cynicism oozing from Clinton Inc. that it could elect Hillary Clinton as president, even after Friday’s FBI announcement that it had reopened an investigation of her emails while secretary of state?

We’ll find out soon enough.

It’s obvious the American political system is breaking down. It’s been crumbling for some time now, and the establishment elite know it and they’re properly frightened. Donald Trump, the vulgarian at their gates, is a symptom, not a cause. Hillary Clinton and husband Bill are both cause and effect.

FBI director James Comey‘s announcement about the renewed Clinton email investigation is the bombshell in the presidential campaign. That he announced this so close to Election Day should tell every thinking person that what the FBI is looking at is extremely serious.

This can’t be about pervert Anthony Weiner and his reported desire for a teenage girl. But it can be about the laptop of Weiner’s wife, Clinton aide Huma Abedin, and emails between her and Hillary. It comes after the FBI investigation in which Comey concluded Clinton had lied and been “reckless” with national secrets, but said he could not recommend prosecution.

At least the normally Liberal rag had the good sense not to endorse Hillary Clinton. Nevertheless, the city and the political infrastructure remains wholeheartedly Democrat.

And when you have Democrats, you have massive corruption. As The Chicagoist notes, the city actually has “Corruption Tours.”

Chicago has its share of architecture tours, boat tours, walking tours, ghost tours and even an “Untouchable Tour” of Prohibition-era mob hangouts. Now, it also has a tour devoted to the seemingly endless political corruption that has, for worse or worse, defined our city over the years.

“There’s this vague, ethereal notion that every politician in Chicago is going to go to prison one day,” Chicago area-native and journalist Paul Dailing told Chicagoist, because political scandals are just so common. After all, Chicago’s judicial district features the most corruption in the U.S., according to reports, and local professor Dick Simpson called 2015 a “banner year” for corruption in Chicago.

The reputation for Chicago is well-deserved. As the Chicago Sun Times reports,

Dishonest Chicago aldermen, crooked Cook County pols, sleazy suburban overlords and untoward state officials.

There’s also: infamous shoeboxes stuffed with thousands in embezzled cash, courtesy of the late Illinois Secretary of State Paul Powell; the groundbreaking “Hired Truck” scandal that rocked former Mayor Richard M. Daley’s administration; and the Mirage Tavern sting, where the Sun-Times and Better Government Association teamed up to snare greedy municipal inspectors.

And let’s not forget the trials and tribulations of two former governors — impeached and imprisoned Rod Blagojevich, and his predecessor, George Ryan, who recently completed his hitch in the pen.

Those stories and hundreds more — in fact, a veritable encyclopedia of three-plus decades of bad behavior in Illinois political circles — come to us from longtime public corruption chroniclers Dick Simpson, a former Chicago alderman and current University of Illinois at Chicago political science professor, and Thomas J. Gradel, a freelance writer and media consultant who worked in state government in the ’70s.

They’ve co-authored the page-turning and comprehensive “Corrupt Illinois,” a self-styled tale of “patronage, cronyism and criminality” in Illinois.

Hillary Clinton has joined the pantheon of the most corrupt, and the reputation is well-deserved. There is truly no politician in America dead or alive who has gotten away with more.

Chicagoans are not the only people who want Clinton to step aside. When Democrats no longer fear “death by Clinton,” more will ask as well.
