Trump Relentlessly Calls Out Liberal Media Bias in First White House Interview
Donald Trump met Wednesday with ABC’s David Muir for his first interview since becoming president. Over and over again, Trump called out mainstream media outlets for repeatedly demonstrating political bias in their reporting.
Trump Explains Importance of Accuracy in Reporting
About President Trump’s inauguration crowd size. It was Yuge! Underscoring the importance of fairly reporting the facts, Trump stated:
“Part of my whole victory was that the men and women of this country who have been forgotten will never be forgotten again. Part of that is when they try and demean me unfairly because we had a massive crowd of people. I looked over that sea of people and I said to myself, wow. And I’ve seen crowds before, big, big crowds. That was some crowd. When I looked at the numbers that happened to come in from all of the various sources, we had the biggest audience in the history of inaugural speeches.”
No one wanted to report on how many Trump supporters came out to celebrate his election win on inauguration day. This dishonest coverage only highlights Trump’s victory on behalf of the forgotten men and women in this country. When will the liberal media elite get that?
The media wants Americans to believe that counting crowds is about Trump’s ego. It’s not. Trump forces the media to live up to its principles.
Report the truth.
Trump also called out liberal media outlets that annually refuse to cover the pro-life March for Life taking place this Friday in Washington, DC.
And he’s right!
ABC, CBS, NBC new shows covered the women’s march 129 times more than they did the last year’s March For Life. ABC, CBS and NBC spent at least one hour, 15 minutes and 18 seconds on the women’s march. But for the 2016 March for Life, they devoted an embarrassing 35 seconds (22 seconds following the march, 13 before).
Slanted reporting like that is why so many people are fed up with the lame-stream media outlets.
Bias Against Conservatives Rears its Ugly Head
The March For Life, annually marks the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide. Both sides of this argument should be fairly and accurately represented by the media. But ABC skirted the issue.
Muir asked Trump if he could hear Women’s March participants from the White House on Saturday.
“No, I couldn’t hear them,” Trump said. “The crowds were large, but you’re going to have a large crowd on Friday, too, which is mostly pro-life people. You’re going to have a lot of people coming on Friday.”
“And I will say this, and I didn’t realize this, but I was told you will have a very large crowd of people — I don’t know as large or larger, some people said it will be larger — pro-life people, and they say the press doesn’t cover them,” Trump added
MUIR – “I don’t want to compare crowd sizes again,” Muir interjected.
TRUMP – “No, you shouldn’t, but let me just tell you, what they do say is that the press doesn’t cover them.”
Muir asked Trump what he would say to those who protested his presidency. The president said he “absolutely” has a “responsibility to everybody” regardless of who they voted for.
So does the media. They have a responsibility to report on those people who DO support Trump – That’s roughly half the country. How does ABC, NBC, and CBS explain their scant coverage of conservative protest marches?
Dishonest ABC even excluded the March For Life portion of Trump’s interview from their website transcript.
The entire March For Life exchange has been omitted from ABC’s website transcript.
Were they embarrassed at being called out so unexpectedly and couldn’t face the humiliation? Was it a clerical oversight? Did it interfere with ABC’s narrative about Trump?
The omission seems to reinforce Donald Trump’s point about March for Life coverage. ABC is so committed to NOT covering the size of the March For Life that they cannot even let this part of their presidential interview exist on their website.
