Massive Conflict of Interest Exposed by Trump Against Washington Post Owner Bezos
Reasons for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ desire to “scrutinize” candidate Trump just became clearer. The mega-bookseller signed a $600 million contract with the Central Intelligence Agency in a bid to increase its political influence. When then-candidate Trump called Bezos to task for possible antitrust issues, the fireworks flew.
What Do You Get When You Cross Conflict of Interest with Liberal Media Bias? Government Corruption.
Last May, candidate Trump attacked The Washington Post’s owner Jeff Bezos for corruption-fueled bias. Bezos, who also founded Amazon, will receive $600 million to build a private cloud infrastructure for the CIA, Daily Finance reported. At the same time, the Post assigned 20 reporters to investigate Trump’s life, according to The Washington Examiner.
Understandably, Trump publicized Bezos’ blatant conflict of interest in an interview with Fox News:
“Amazon is controlling so much of what the Washington Post is doing. [Jeff Bezos] owns the Washington Post and controls Amazon. He’s using [the Post] as a tool for political power against me and against other people. We can’t let him get away with it.”
Trump supported his charge of bias against the Washington Post with more details:
“Every hour we’re getting calls from reporters at the Washington Post asking ridiculous questions. [The Post] is owned as a toy by Jeff Bezos, who controls Amazon. Amazon is getting away with murder tax wise. He’s using the Washington Post for power so that the politicians in Washington don’t tax Amazon like they should be taxed. He’s worried about me. I think he said that to somebody. It was in some article, where he thinks I’d go after him for anti-trust [violations]. Because he’s got a huge antitrust problem, because he’s controlling so much.”
Different Candidate, Different “Scrutiny”
Bezos fired back by doing what unscrupulous liberals do – he changed the subject:
“One thing that I think is not appropriate, that Donald Trump is doing, is working to freeze or chill the media that are examining him. … Politicians should invite scrutiny. “That’s a cultural norm.”
Deflection Alert. When liberals change the subject instead of taking accountability for their actions, they’re hiding something. The Post’s sole owner is the main owner of CIA business partner Amazon. And that owner ordered the Post’s “scrutiny” of a candidate who would most likely make Bezos answer for this seeming corruption once elected.
Norman Solomon opined that Bezos has cause to be concerned:
“If some official enemy of the U.S. had a comparable situation — say the owner of the dominant newspaper in Caracas was getting $600 million in secretive contracts from the Maduro government — the Post itself would lead the howling chorus impaling that newspaper and that government for making a mockery of a free press.”
Liberal hypocrisy, thy name is Bezos. The Post’s current standard of “scrutiny” didn’t apply to Obama. They admitted as much, after the election. Newsbusters reported The Washington Post admitted it was clearly biased towards Barack Obama in its presidential campaign coverage.
The Post’s Ombudsman Deborah Howell revealed:
“The op-ed page ran far more laudatory opinion pieces on Obama, 32, than on Sen. John McCain, 13. There were far more negative pieces (58) about McCain than there were about Obama (32), and Obama got the editorial board’s endorsement.”
The injustice and lack of journalistic integrity displayed repeatedly by liberal rags like the Post, make Trump’s excoriation of the press completely justified. But liberals won’t admit that. Their default narrative: Our actions are justified by our righteous cause – taking down Trump.
