Oscars Ratings PLUMMET: Thanks to Leftist Hollywood Scum and Trump

Congratulate yourselves Conservatives! Because if you’re like me, you didn’t watch a minute of the Oscars.

Like Target, the NFL, and most recently Starbucks, the glitz of Hollyweird has revealed pewter. All the brands who have succumbed to Leftisms are getting hammered, financially.

As FOX News reported,

It was a strange night at the Oscars. Someone still living was listed in the In Memoriam segment. First-time host Jimmy Kimmel attempted to bring non-famous people into the Hollywood fold in a very long bit. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were given the wrong envelope to read in the category everyone had stayed up to see (Best Picture), well beyond midnight on the East Coast. It all made for what Variety critic Sonia Saraiya dubbed “great TV.”

But that’s not what made the Oscars strange. The really strange part occurred as hundreds of self-indulgent Hollywood types profess to want unity, then go on to trash America’s new president.

The Atlantic wrote,

President Donald Trump was 3,000 miles away from the Academy Awards on Sunday night, but his presence loomed larger in the Dolby Theatre than anyone else in the room. From Jimmy Kimmel’s opening monologue to acceptance speeches to the ads punctuating the ceremony, it felt at times like the Oscars were more focused on delivering an extremely public rebuke to Trump than they were on celebrating the art of filmmaking.

And therein lies the problem for the Left. They want Conservatives to appreciate “the arts,” as they attempt to ridicule?

Thus they must pay.

As the FOX News article continues,

Overall, though, the early numbers indicate ABC might be looking at another big drop in audience. In Nielsen’s metered market overnight ratings, which measure the top 56 markets in the country — representing about 70% of the viewing populace — the 89th Academy Awards brought in a 22.4 household rating/36 share and a 12.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic in Nielsen’s 25 local people meter markets.

The 2016 Oscars, for comparison, brought in a 23.4 household rating and a 36 share, down from 2015’s household rating of 25.0 and 2014’s massive 27.9. Last year’s telecast ended up drawing 34.3 million pairs of eyeballs; 2015, 37.3 million. Both paled in comparison to 2014’s haul of 43.7 million. Sunday’s overnight rating is also just up from the previous low-water mark of 2008, when Jon Stewart hosted and pulled a 21.9 overnight rating that ended up translating to 32 million viewers.

Let’s recap:

  • 2016 – 23.4
  • 2015 – 25.0
  • 2014 0 27.9

As reported, Kimmel bested the “low water mark” of…JON STEWART who in 2008 registered a 21.9.

As they said in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: “YOU’RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!”

Who didn’t give a crap about the Oscars? Flyover country. The Midwest. Trump voters!

We learned that the biggest markets for the 2017 Oscars were, unsurprisingly, big metropolitan areas, with a heavy coastal lean:

  1. New York (31.1 rating)
  2. San Diego (30.7 rating)
  3. Los Angeles (30.5 rating)
  4. Chicago (30.5 rating)
  5. San Francisco (30.3 rating)

At this rate, YouTube will be bigger than Hollywood, with a fraction of the costs. AND it won’t have pretentious overpaid Leftist socialites to deal with.
