FOX News Might Get Competiton: Group Creating Alternative Conservative News Network

Is Fox News moving too far to the Left? That’s why one source believes Fox needs a rival.

“Conservative fat cats” are in active discussions about creating an alternative conservative cable news network in the wake of major shakeups at the Fox News Network.

Mediaite reports:

“The source, who is engaged in the talks, says a meeting is planned for today with two prominent high-powered television executives, some underperforming conservative networks, and people who have an interest and the ability to fund a new network.”

In the wake of a major sex abuse scandal at Fox News that caused the ousting of network head Roger Ailes, several out-of-work conservative powerhouses could find a new home. The ex-Fox list alone could easily fill the new channel’s prime time lineup.

Welcome back Andrea Tantaros, Gretchen Carlson. There may even be a slot for Tomi Lahren. Oh, how we’ve missed you. Although the report lays out several speculations about on-air talent, they admit:

“The exact “who” won’t be clear until the deal is more defined but the source says the pitch is that the network could immediately reach at least 85 million homes.”

To add fuel to this fire, a casting notice for an ‘up-and-coming conservative media network currently in development’ was discovered. They seek “hosts, reporters, and well-known, right-leaning panelists.”

What qualities does this potential Fox News rival hope to find in potential on-air talent?

  • Knowledge of Conservative Viewpoints
  • Knowledge of Current Events
  • An Upscale Look
  • Above Average Intelligence
  • An Outspoken Approach to presenting the news
  • An Energetic Personality

Why now?

Fox is bleeding celebrity news anchors and those plotting this alternative network smell blood.

So why not take advantage of that fact?

In addition, new leadership at FOX signals a “shifting paradigm” to the left that motivates these conservative discussions. A New York Times profile suggests that James and Lachlan Murdoch CEO and co-chairman of parent company 21st Century Fox, made statements about moving away from the “anti-politically correct environment” their father built.

The anonymous TV executive who spoke with Mediaite revealed:

“I’m working on [the new conservative channel] hot and heavy. It’s live, it’s real. The new channel could come to fruition within the next 10 to 12 months.”

She/He also hinted that she/he “[doesn’t] see Fox News and Sean [Hannity] having a long relationship. If Sean becomes available, you have 100 percent turnover in primetime [at Fox] and a huge opportunity.”

FOX News has enjoyed a veritable monopoly on Conservative news, though many argue that FOX is not as conservative as the Left portrays. Either way, America would be better off with a more truly Conservative news outlet competing against FOX News.

Nevertheless, don’t think FOX will go down easily.

The shake-up at FOX News means opportunity for many. Tucker Carlson replaced Megyn Kelly and the ratings for that timeslot improved over 30%. Who’s to say that the next moves won’t create the next wave of political superstars?
