PRIMARY ELECTION CHALLENGE: Will Pelosi Finally be Booted from Congress?
Are Nancy Pelosi’s days numbered? Stephen Jaffe certainly hopes so.
Pelosi is older than Ghandi’s flip flops. And just how many botox injections has that face endured, as the toxins obviously penetrated her brain?
Pelosi and other establishment liberals ignored the voice of the people over the past several years, and that neglect bit back. This was never a more poignant reality than during last summer’s Democratic National Convention.
Remember last summer’s Democratic National Convention? Bernie Sanders (D-VT) challenged the establishment icon Hillary Clinton for the presidential nomination. Sanders supporters thought they had a voice in the process. However, their voices were silenced at the DNC by the DNC.
Further, Pelosi made clear over and over again that nothing was going to change.
Between 2008 and 2016, Democrats lost more than 60 seats in the House of Representatives under Pelosi. But that wasn’t her fault. So, at a private conference with billionaire donors, Pelosi confirmed anew that Party strategy would remain constant.
And again, in February 2017, at a CNN Town Hall, Pelosi shut down a Sanders supporter who wanted Democrats to embrace Bernie’s populist message.
She later stated that Democrats’ strategy wasn’t the problem. Instead, the way people think needs to be corrected.
Again and again, Pelosi ignores the voters.
But now her chickens are coming home to roost. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) finally has a challenger for her congressional seat.
And no, it’s not Father Time.
Former Bernie Sanders supporter, lifelong Democrat, and employment attorney Stephen R. Jaffe is ready to make Pelosi feel the Bern.
And progressive liberals who also previously supported Sanders are backing Jaffe’s campaign launch.
Why is he challenging the establishment fixture? Because Pelosi is not listening to the American people.
Jaffe organizes grassroots efforts in Pelosi’s congressional district. He is the co-founder and president of the South Beach District 6 Democratic Club of San Francisco. And Jaffe’s long experience working directly with the people may give him the edge he needs to win in 2018.
His most recent initiative pushed to remove dark money from politics in the San Francisco area.
Jaffe was also recruited by the Sanders campaign in his capacity as a senior attorney to observe and monitor the Nevada Caucuses. He believes Sanders was “more or less cheated out of” the Democratic nomination for president.
Echoing the frustrations of no doubt thousands of voters, Jaffe said of his establishment rival:
“I think Ms. Pelosi has served long and—for the most part—well. But, from my observations of the last year or so, particularly in her Town Halls with voters, I think she’s really out of touch with the voters in San Francisco. I think the district needs to be represented by someone more in touch with the voters and the constituents here, and I think I’m that person.”
Honestly, I don’t see this guy as much better than Pelosi. However, it’s time that Americans on both sides of the aisle show the establishment they are not permanent fixtures.
