Border Wall One Step Closer to Reality

Border Wall One Step Closer to Reality

Trump wins in the end.

The Democrats need to get used to hearing that. In fact, that might be a slogan on a hat soon. “Trump wins in the end!

And Democrats hate dealing with a real winner. They are used to losers. In the past when Democrats defeated Republicans it was for good. Look at Obamacare. The Democrats passed that monstrosity without control of the Senate. And after defeating the group who should have won, Democrats now bask in the glow of their victory.

So what if Obamacare sucks and cost people jobs. So what if the cost of healthcare skyrockets. For the Left, THEY WON! That’s what matters. Leftists defeated the Republicans, and that’s what their constituents expect. Furthermore, leftist legislation doesn’t have to be good, it just needs to get the win. More importantly, keep the win.

The Left now understand that when fighting Trump, their wins are only temporary. Like the election. The Left won many battles, as the polls suggested. Then came the war. As the red, tearful eyes of leftists all over America showed on election night, TRUMP WON THE WAR!

Remember the jubilation leftists felt when President Trump attempted to protect America from radical Islamic terrorists, thus he issued a travel order? Leftists celebrated like black people hearing the OJ verdict. Then again, the president lost on appeal. However, what happened in the end? Trump got his travel order.

The same will soon be true for the repeal of Obamacare.

And what of the border wall?

One of Trump’s first campaign promises was to build a border wall, and make Mexico pay for it. Leftists mocked Trump on this issue, calling him a xenophobe and a racist. Well it’s been a whole six months and there stands no wall. But the wall is coming.

As IJR reports,

House Republicans on Tuesday released a bill allocating $1.6 billion to fund “physical barrier construction” on the U.S.-Mexico border.

The allocation is part of a $44.3 billion bill by the House Appropriations Committee that would also fund the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for fiscal year 2018, which begins October 1.

“Keeping Americans safe by protecting our homeland is a top priority. This funding bill provides the resources to begin building a wall along our southern border, enhance our existing border security infrastructure. Additionally, it will hire more border patrol agents, and fund detention operations,” said House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee Chairman John Carter.

As a whole, the bill would provide $13.8 billion for customs and border protection. This includes $100 million to hire hundreds more border patrol agents and $109 million for “non-intrusive inspection equipment.”

DHS spokesman David Lapan commented, “On the DHS side it’s clear that we’ve gotten a direction to secure the southern border, that a wall and barrier is part of that process along with people and technology and that funding from Congress is required for us to move forward on that.”

As early as next week a report is expected to outline where the first segments of the wall will be built.

It’s going to be difficult for people to argue with jobs. But what of the future benefits?

Illegals entering America is down. Then there is the problem with drugs. The Left decry the opioid epidemic, but wholly ignore the drugs coming in from Mexico.

Leftists next say that allowing illegals in is humane. However, what about human trafficking? Do they not care about these victims?

Without reprosecuting the issue, it’s safe to say that forcing people to utilize the legal immigration system in America is tantamount to a civil society.

Yet, IJR continues:

Heavy Democratic opposition to the bill is expected in both houses.

“Democrats will again draw a hard line against wasting taxpayer money to fulfill the president’s campaign applause line,” said Matthew Dennis, a spokesman for Appropriations Committee Democrats. “The purpose of the Homeland Security bill is to make communities more safe and secure, and this pointless wall does nothing to accomplish that.”

A New Spin

Recently, Trump came up with a new idea that makes the border wall even more difficult for leftists to argue against. His idea? Solar panels.

Solar panels along the border wall could produce enough energy to pay for it’s construction within 20 years. And as Business Insider reports:

Trump mentioned the hypothetical solar wall during a rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Wednesday night, saying “this way, Mexico will have to pay much less money,” as his supporters applauded.

Thomas Gleason is the managing partner of Gleason Partners LLC, a Las Vegas-based architecture firm that submitted a proposal to the Department of Homeland Security that included solar panels. He told Business Insider earlier this month that he had been batting around the idea of building a solar-paneled wall along the US-Mexico border “for months.”

Gleason said he believes that farmers on both sides of the border would appreciate the wall, as the energy output would create a “microgrid” that could provide cheap power to remote areas on the border underserved by energy utilities.

“We’d be our own utility,” Gleason added, though he said third-party contractors would need to actively manage the wall, per the DHS’s request. He said the cheap, renewable electricity produced by the wall should “mitigate” political resistance over time, and increase property values along the border.

Gleason also said the panels sourced by his firm would be manufactured in the US, whereas a concrete wall would entail shipping “truckloads” of concrete from Mexico, along with the higher maintenance costs.

“Our intent is to offer a realistic, no-nonsense design for the wall that pays for itself that will make everybody happy, including our president,” Gleason said.

Who knows what President Trump will think of next?

What we do know is whatever he thinks of will “Make America Great Again!”
