 //  Color Matters?

Posted on Thursday, April 8th, 2010 by Kevin Jackson

My complaint about black political leaders is that most of them are ignorant Democrats!  The overwhelming majority of black Democrats are little more than self-serving pimps, taking advantage of the people they serve.  Most if not all have benefitted dramatically—financially speaking—since becoming Congressmen, while there has been no significant gains in the black community that don’t point back to Republican policies of the mid-1800’s.

The good news is black Conservatives and the rest of America have had enough. There are many black Conservatives entering the political arena, and this group of blacks is very different from their Democrat counterpoints.

Black Conservatives are actually professional, knowledgeable, ethical, and dare I say articulate and clean!  People like Allen West, running for Congress in FL and Michael Williams running for the Senate in TX are stellar examples of individuals who know that Guam won’t “tip over” if too many people are on the island!  They along with others will bring common sense government to a political system run amuck!

Iin a few cases however, I believe black “Conservatives” are simply wolves in “black sheep” clothing.  There are Liberals attempting to infiltrate the Conservative Republican movement, disguised as “black.”  These blacks play on the idea that a RINO black candidate might replace a Democrat, given the temperament of the Tea Party movement.  Unfortunately, in small part, it’s working.

Take the Texas District 30 Republican Run-Off Election for U.S. House of Representative for example.  There are two candidates, a black Pastor, and a Jewish attorney.  The black candidate, Pastor Stephen Broden’s campaign slogan for the runoff election is simply:  “Color Matters!”

At a time when America has elected a black president, how is it possible that a supposed Conservative Republican candidate would run on the mantra “Color Matters?” What are we, circa ’60’s, and supporting the racist Democrat Party platform plank?

And if indeed, “color matters,” given the makeup of Texas District 30—about 1/3 black, 1/3 Hispanic, and 1/3 white—I guess Pastor Broden will represent only 1/3 of his district?

Running on the basis that your opponent’s skin is white is not forward thinking, and it’s not what the Tea Party movement is about.  It is not what America represents.  I believe this mantra is insulting to all Americans, particularly at a time when America has demonstrated repeatedly that she is not a racist country.

Pastor Broden has also said that “there are too many lawyers in Congress,” so why send a Jewish lawyer.  While I respect the role of some pastors in America’s history, I believe the Republicans got “out-lawyered” on DeathCare.  So having a competent Jewish (or other) attorney on our side might be just what the multi-cultural doctor ordered?

Broden has no demonstrated proven capabilities in drafting or understanding legislation, or perhaps he plans to just sign the bills without reading them?

Color Matters Broden’s idea of immigration reform includes work permits for ALL illegal aliens, yes even those with aggravated felonies....

Being blunt, I expect our Congressmen to respect our laws—especially the good ones like having immigrants enter our country legally…as all other countries require!

Broden’s competitor—the Jewish lawyer—is Sheldon Goldstein.  How could a Jew, and an ATTORNEY no less, expect to face off against a black Democrat woman in a Democrat gerrymandered district…and win?! Consider just how racist that question is!  America is ready for a black president, but they aren’t ready for a Jewish Congressman in a black district? Oy vey! I guess America is a racist country…for Jewish lawyers!

Before Goldstein became a Jewish lawyer, he was a noted Jewish artist, and an unquestionable success. His works are on display throughout museums in the U.S., Europe, and Africa.  African leader Buthelezi endorsed Goldstein’s work, praising Goldstein as “a man of character,” based on personal interaction with Goldstein in South Africa.

After retiring from the art world and returning to the U.S., Goldstein started a Collectibles business, where again he built a successful business.

In 1999 Goldstein returned to school, got his law degree, earning the title of Jewish Lawyer!  And as Jewish lawyers, with focus and determination, and not stepping on the neck of anybody—except a few opposing counsel—Goldstein built a successful law practice in the district in which he plans to serve. Those damn Jews!

Here’s the wrap:

To say that Eddie Bernice Johnson has represented black people in her district, is to say that the chicken hawk represents the chickens!  The only visible gains in that district under Eddie Bernice Johnson have been for Eddie Bernice Johnson. No new jobs, no new opportunities; just less of the same! An apparently former Democrat, does Broden really offer than much of a difference?

Goldstein’s reward for being willing to take a pay cut, and represent ALL colors of people, is he is labeled a carpet-bagging Jewish lawyer.  Blacks and Jews have heard the cries of racism before…just not from Republicans.

For the grass roots to select a candidate simply on the idea that “color matters” would make us no better than the people who voted for Obama.  We would be wrong to do so.

The idea that a man with the grit and determination, and bona fide record of success like Sheldon Goldstein can’t beat Eddie Bernice Johnson is in my opinion equivalent to the grass roots saying that we can’t beat Obama.  Again, that idea would be wrong!  In 2012, Obama will learn that he is a one-term president.

All this said, I am not telling people to support Goldstein necessarily, though I do, and have consulted with him about his campaign. I am saying to you, what I said to my black friends that voted for “hope and change,” and that is:  Make sure you know what you are getting from the candidate that you support.  Because I live in a world where color doesn’t matter!

Amazing article. It's about time we start raising our voices and letting the people know that Republicans have stood for minorities – not by giving them a hand-out, but a hand-UP! I have yet to hear the "racist", "fear-mongering", "bigots" at Fox News use race to discuss ANY issue of the day, but MSDNC might as well run the "Here's how the Republicans are Racist Today Show" 24 hours straight.

Thank you for standing on principles Kevin.

BTW – Any chance of you making it to an OK Tea-Party event?

Very well said. I'm a Conservative Hispanic woman married to a Conservative Black (Pastor). I'm grateful that my husband didn't look at my color, but at my character! Lack of character comes in ALL COLORS. In politicians, character is what should matter…..NOT COLOR!!!!

Excellent point Kevin. Some "post-racial" time we're in, uh? You are dead on about self serving black Dems who answer first to the radical left leadership which MUST perpetuate poverty and misery so as to consolidate their power. When it comes to the above mentioned poverty and misery, color doesn't really matter because these maladies effect people of all colors. Obviously, the black community has suffered more than their fair share and sadly will continue too as long as they worship at the altar of the Dems' big government, soul-choking worldview. I remember seeing Bill Cosby on a Q & A talk show and he was asked a well intentioned but silly question about being " a successful black man" and he was rightfully irked and responded about "why is there a need to place the word black in the sentence?" Pastor Broden must not have been watching.

Outstanding coumn yet again Kevin! Kudos to Lt. Col. west in Florida, that man is the most exciting candidate in the country right now. I only wish it was feasible for him to run for president in 2012, I'd vote for him today! I believe Obama's lone positive contribution to America was to open the door for black candidates, how ever disingenous his campaign was. Now we can welcome in men (and women) such as Col. West. People of real substance, courage, conviction and common sense. Bring it on!

Living in District 30 I have seen a trend for the last 18 years of lack of attention here at home and a puppet in D.C. just as well in EBJ. I am so embarrased by her lack of knowledge and her failure to listen to her district and now we have another that is challenging for her seat. I can't express enough if we do not stop this the price to pay is too great if there is not a change for the better. Thanks Kevin for bringing this to light and hopefully we will have some meaningful representation here in Dallas.

Kevin, you again hit the ball out of the park. There is no doubt that race hustlers – both black and white – are disastrous for both communities. I don't know a lot about Sheldon Goldstein and the fact that is is Jewish (like me) doesn't really matter. Unfortunately, I come across many of my own who I wouldn't vote for dogcatcher.

Keep up the good work!

Pastor Broden says:
April 10, 2010 at 1:22 am

It is unfortunate Kevin that you did not first talk with me before you did your blog here. You allowed my opponent in a runoff here in Dallas to frame my position without first asking me the context of his misrepresentation. I realize you are not obliged to be fair and balance here, but this is an opponent seeking to win at any cost, including misrepresentations. You really needed to investigated with me any characterizations of me with me before pushing me under the bus.

Eddie Bernice Johnson has used the race card in this district for years and have effectively used it to beat back all republican candidates who have challenged her by deflecting from her record. The race card has been an effective hammer against her opposition. It has worked for her and she has won using it. My statement that race matter was in acknowledgement that she has used and will use the race card again to deflect scrutiny of her record and cause the black population in the district to disregard the conservative message before it is heard.

In order for the republican party in the 30th district to overcome her tactic of using race to mute our ability to challenge her record we have got to use a game changer to take away her successful race tactic. My appeal to the republican party in the 30th is that I am the game changer who can better change the game than my opponent and mute Ms. Johnson cry of racism. Just like when you and I show up to a Tea Party event we mute the charge that the Tea Party is a racist group. So it is in the 30th district. Having a black candidate face Johnson is our best chance to defeat her. I represent an adjustment to our usual tactic. we are seeking a way to effectively counter her best move against us to date.

The Republicans in the 30th district recognize that after 18 year of Eddie Bernice Johnson whipping every candidate we put in front of her by playing the race card it is time for a game change. They agree with me that Johnson can't call me a racist and and we will be able to bring into focus her record. What we are talking about here is making an adjustment in our tactic in order to over come an effective play Johnson has used to win in the 30th. Granted, this should not be in an ideal situation, however, Johnson uses the race card. We must counter her to take it away. I am the only candidate who can take it away from her, and the republican base agree with me. We will win the runoff and we will beat Ms. Johnson.

Kevin, all that you said about me and my experience was filtered through my opponents estimation of me not from a conversation you had with me. If you would have talk with me first as an act of journalist honesty and fairness, your blog would have been colored much differently. You would have discovered that my opponent does not live in our district, and have lied about it repeatedly, and have done some unseemly acts against me including charging me with an "assault terrorist threat" with the police, which was done for political reasons only. Now he has manipulated you into writing a scathing opinion on me without first vetting his scenario with me of some other trust worthy source. Fortunately most republicans in this district don't know of you or your blog, so the damage will be marginal at best. However many of your readers will have a distorted view of me and my candidacy.

Kevin, I hope you will correct this error and seek my side of this scenario so as to at a minimum present my point of view. If however you are a paid consultant with my opponents team, I understand. You can know the truth if you want it. The bible says "you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free" contact me and let's get to the truth.

Awful column, Kevin. You got sold a bill of goods by a shyster lawer who lied about what Stephen Broden said and did, and you obviously didn't check into the stories you were told. My respect for you just took a big hit. Stephen Broden is a true conservative who has the interests of the district where he has lived and worked for years, and Goldstein is the one who keeps bringing up race. Shame on you, Kevin. Go tohttp://www.brodenforcongress.com and look at the candidate comparison, and check out all the videos, then please print a retraction. You've been had, dude.

@JeremyBuff says:

To be honest, all one has to hear is that this guy's campaign slogan is "Color Matters." My question is how? Broden should be wise enough to understand that if he does anything race-related that a white candidate wouldn't do, then it's iffy- at the least.

The only time color matters is when people vote because someone is a certain ethnicity. That's the ONLY time it should matter, and it's WRONG.

@blackberrycafe says:
April 11, 2010 at 5:51 am

Excellent post Kevin. As a (sorry all) Black (not sorry for being Black mind you) male, you can imagine the sheer horror, shock and surprise of a lot of people that I for one, is a registered Republican and DAMN proud of it, secondly, I didn't vote for BHO. They "assume" that I as a black person, I would (or should have) vote(d) for BHO just because he's a man of color. WRONG! A lot of whites voted for him to show that they are not racist and that they are "progressive"! Well, look where we are now! Hear that sound? It's the sound of our rights being swept/blown away. I don't need the government telling me what is good for me, I'm a grown man.

What will this country be like if we let things progress as they are now? It took a great President, Uncle Ronnie as I like to call him to make this country great again, after Jimmy made it a laughing stock. Well, a lot of countries are laughing their butts off now. Well, I'm not laughing because I don't find anything funny about the road this great country is heading down. A road that is winding, with steep cliffs and this guy driving like a maniac! I want my country back.

My mother (I love her so much and miss her, and may she rest in peace now that she's with the Good Lord) use to ask me, "What have the Republicans done for you?" Well, being my mom and all, I always wanted to say a lot more than any Democrat has, and that is/was letting me run my life, not making me dependent on a hand out. It's really sad that a lot of my people have walked blindly back into slavery and don't know it, and that's the catch. Give me, give me, give me! Why get a job when this Democrat will give me this or that? The Republicans? They are racists because they want me/us to "work" for a living. How dare them! I'm not rich and I live paycheck to paycheck, so I guess I don't fit the stereotypical Republican mode, but I work hard for what I get and it would be so easy to sit back and let everyone take care of me.

If Blacks stop blaming the "white man" for all their problems, open their eyes, go to the library and read up on history, they might just find out that it wasn't the republicans that were the majority of slave owners. It wasn't a Democrat that freed the slaves. It wasn't the Republicans that was trying to kill the civil rights act of 64, but it's easier to blame the "white man"! As Bill Cosby said, "You can't blame the "white man" any more"! Stop "FEELING" and start "LEARNING" Take control of your lives instead of wanting the government to hold your hand, tell you what you can and can not do! Stop being beholding to your so-called liberal leaders because as long as you do, you will always be a slave! Keeping you depending on them (Dems) is where they get their power, without slaves, the slave owners are powerless!

Sorry for the rant, which is/was all over the place, but just needed to get a few things off my chest! Thanks Kevin, keep up the great work. You're a Great American!

Personally I'd like to see 53 Republican Jews representing California and another 100 or so in Sacramento. IF their stereotype is even half way accurate, at least then Money would be spent wisely.

When I grew up in Bklyn, the school I went to was predominantly jewish. I had a very obvious Italian last name. I didn't have any friends and felt alone. Because I didn't have any friends, I did a lot of daydreaming. While doing so, I noticed a lone black student in the class. I remember thinking that if I think its hard sitting in this classroom, how must he feel? Ever since then, I tried to be more sensitive to that. Now, since getting politically active I find myself defending myself against being called a "racist". Nothing could be further from the truth. From the minute I listened to the now infamous 7 minute video (or whatever length) on you tube, I was enthralled with a dynamic, honest leader who has a proven record of discipline and a genuine love for this country. We have a mid-term election coming up here in Hawaii. Many of us are working to ensure another democrat does not get the seat…AGAIN! All senators and congressmen are democrats and they just LOVE entitlement programs. We have a fabulously conservative governor, but she's in her last term. If we don't replace her with another conservative Hawaii will definitely be screwed. We already have one of the most laughable education systems in the nation, and just about anyone can get on the tax payer funded health care dole.

One day, those of us who are Conservatives, we are going to all come together regardless of race, what branch of Christianity we practice, socioeconomic status, our country of origin because the indelible truth that these corrupt left wing politicians are going to destroy this nation irreparably will be upon us. It has already begun, and for far too long we have allowed politicians of both stripes with their own repugnant stenches to steal all our money, waste it, and spend all of their day pitting one class of people against another.

SL
Louisiana

First of all, as repugnant as I find the history of slavery, the liberal politicians are practicing the worst form of it, which is economic and whose very existence is predicated on the notions of innumerable stereotypes that I won't bore you with listing. I can only speak for myself when I say that I want every American to lift him or herself up, work hard, and succeed so that what logically will follow is that those miscreants will be done away with, relegated into history books as an experiment which has been tried throughout the centuries and has been the cause of more death, poverty, animus, and failures than any other plague or scourge of the earth. Thousands of years of failure of socialism including and preceding the onset of the latest failed example vis a vie Obama, in Europe, Africa, Asia, Central and South American, Russia, and Indonesia juxtaposed to the 240 year history of the first of it's kind representative republic in the United States could not be more stark or exhibit more prima facie data.

I want to live in a country where no matter what color you are, you are encouraged to be successful, work hard, and thereby enhancing my life because taxes could be lowered, crime rates would drop, families would stay together. I watched program on National Geographic that I would encourage every one to watch called LA Gang Wars. It is the most horrific thing I have ever heard of and that type of environment is directly a result of left wing governmental policies. To see these what are essentially children running around killing other children, adults, and elderly just two blocks over because the other one's crossed some imaginary line nobody really knows where it begins and ends, is just disturbing. Then the leftist's encourage drug consumption, anarchy, abortion-especially of poorer women and teenage girls- and a Godless world where there are no rules and guidance comes from the whims of desire and not sacrifice, where the diminution of morality has its roots.

So Kevin, I applaude your honesty, your success, and the knowledge that the liberals are wrong and no more glaring of an example exists that I know of than you. Congratulations on escaping from their evil grasp. Now your obligation is to pass that on to those who need to know the most.

To say that Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson has failed to represent her district or African-Americans well reveals how misinformed some people truly are. District 30 is a diverse district, consisting of constituents of all backgrounds, races, religions, sexual orientations, and economic statuses. As an African-American who has followed her leadership and her legislative record closely over the years, I have witnessed her unequivocal support and hard work for District 30. Though a quiet, strong leader, Congresswoman Johnson has been an uncompromised advocate for the rights of all her constituents, including African-Americans. Before accusing her of failing to do her job, I suggest you learn more about her legislative record by visitinghttp://www.votesmart.com. There you can track the very bills that she has authored, co-authored, and voted for in support of the African-American community and the many diverse communities that comprise our District 30.

Ignorance: The condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed.
I'm a college educated and well informed about the issues and candidates in the 30th district (in which I live) and researched this issue in particular thoroughly :)
So, is thinking enough for myself, all knowledgeable William Safoal?
Ha,Ha rhetorical question by the way.
I've looked at his actions, record, character ECT….but have you?
You made a very good pt. "Color shouldn't matter"…..But what's the difference between shouldn't and does? You tell me?
Rhetorical question
However, why I chose to write this lengthy reply is to simply end with this!

Excellent post, Kevin! I cannot believe I have not discovered this site until now. If anything, I love meeting minorities of the US standing up for conservative principles rather than blindly supporting the Democrats for their govt. hand-out policies. I am a proud South Korean American (but I'd prefer just 'American', mind you) and immigrant who wholeheartedly supports the Republicans and the conservative movement! Being a low-income minority gives you no excuse to blindly worship the liberals and the Obama-crowd.

I'm also tired of how these liberals and socialists brainwash public school adolescents to think that the Republicans are the 'big bad wolves' while the Democrats are supposedly the 'caring for the poor' crowd. If these kids just do their research (like the gentleman from blackberrycafe has mentioned earlier), they'd realize that it was the Republicans who freed the slaves, and the Democrats who whipped them into submission. They'd realize that it was the Republicans who voted in favor of the Civil Rights Act, while the Democrats said NAY. And in current day politics, it's the Republicans who allow me to live out my life the way I see it fit, giving me the freedom to prosper from my hard-earned paychecks. It's the socialistic Democrats who wants to overtax you in an effort to help the lazy, while keeping the minorities and the poor in miserable conditions (despite their 'we care about the lower class' mantra) to use as a permanent voting bloc.

Keep up the great work, Kevin! I'll be reading your blog more often.

I agree Kevin. I think that many black politicians are doing the black community a great disservice by inferring that black people can not be productive individuals and achieve their life’s dreams unless the government helps them through some type of program or subsidy helps. In my opinion the generalization black politics make about the black people are erroneous and demining. There is no limit to what black people can achieve and it is shameful that many self-serving politicians effortlessly overlook that fact in order to advance a political agenda and their political careers.

Many Americans black and white are descendants of slaves. Like me, my skin is white yet my great great grandfather was an African slave. Many of us Americans are very mixed in our heritage. I have 2 possibly 3 (still researching) races and 7, possibly more, nationalities in me. Kind of hard to be a racist wouldn't you say. Yet simply because I am a Tea Party Patriot that is how I am labeled. If Hillary won the election and took over private businesses and jolted us to Marxism as Obama has I would be a Tea Party patriot as well.

The way I see it is Obama has nothing to say about American slavery since it was his ancestors of the muslim Luo tribe that captured and sold blacks like my ancestors into slavery in the first place. Whenever I hear him mention anything to do with what Black Americans went through I want to puke, Obama's ancestors were never slaves they just captured, sold and owned them.

I am glad my African ancestor came here instead of an Islamic country, if they hadn't I would not have been born, my ancestors would have been killed at birth, before birth or unable to produce at all.

Time for Obama to apologize to all of us Americans who are descendants of slaves for what HIS ancestors of the Islamic faith did. That is of course if he and his cronies wish to continue to play the race card.

I am grateful for the black conservative movement they are the answer to educating the Black Americans about the truth. Thank you Kevin your posts and videos are extremely well written and researched. You need a show on foxnews, now.

Your like the negro version of the Bourne Ulitilatim movies. Someone must have injected you with some mind controlling cocktail of pyschotropic drugs to be talking that mess.

Did you ever take a history class?

Whose paying you? Must be a hefty sum. Your really shuckin and jivin big time.

You can’t really believe what you just said on MSNBC. How do you sleep at night knowing that you are just an amusing token to whites and a fool to blacks.

The only reason they let you on TV is because you dog Obama and say anti-black things. It’s the saddest thing I’ve ever seen.

Why don’t you show some real courage and criticize the people who have hated you and tormented you for 400 years.

Even Donny Duetch thought you were out of your mind.

Just paint your self white dude, get a nazi armband, some teabags and go hang with the klan in the woods, since you feel the same way they do. I’m sure your be welcomed with burning crosses.

Lenore please… Catholics, Christians, and Muslims all pillaged Africa. Kenya in particular had a several very brutal occupations. Why should Obama apologize? with your logic All Europeans and All Arabs owe all people off African decent a apology.. But if you know who you with stand you know you will never get an apology. So quit the hypocrisy. An stop pretending to be informed.

Kevin you think you are going to lure voters to your side with insults. I am a well informed, well educated and a great researcher. I am fiscally conservative as well as socially. I believe parents are the solution when it comes to our misguided youth. I believe in personal responsibility…. But I also am just as critical of Apartheid America…Kevin given the History of this country Americans who happen to be Black are exactly where they should be. In a Bad situation as a Whole.. Your republicans have had the ball. An they have dropped it numerous times.. Since the Dixiecrats have moved to the GOP. What have the Repubs done for the poorest Americans? Kevin you think America just had a bad attitude toward Blacks. Sorry it had laws limiting progress. And because this changed in the 70's it's legacy should have gone with it? Sorry they didn't hand out Degrees and diplomas to those previous generations to build a foundation for our children today… Cointelpro was real..It is also known Blacks are still 5x more likely to get arrested then Whites for the same behavior…See that's where the GOP loses us informed voters.. The irony is the repub voters in "real America" get more money than they pay in taxes per state. Also a family with children doesn't pay federal taxes if they make less than $60,000.00 after the EIC tax credit… So what are you guys talking about? I pay about $35,000 in taxes every year. It is in all our best interest to see our fellow citizens get the services they need. When the GOP starts to talk about the prison industrial complex. I will listen a little more. In closing condemn the real racist coded loaded language of your fellow members. For every racist you condemn you will gain 10 new voters. The GOP is full of them just read the conservative blog(comments). They are all over the place.

Yes that congressman is a idiot who made the Guam comment. But we call him on his crap. And that fool does not represent all Black Dems. Does David Vitter or Ken Blackwell represent all repubs?

If color didn't matter then this site would be not be called the Black Sphere. As long as the majority of the population in this country, uses color as their primary means of identification then color does matter.

Aloha Lenore,
I think this is the first time I have heard someone reference the African blacks as being responsible for selling Africans into slavery throughout the world. I've always assumed African tribe leaders had to be responsible for bringing the soon-to-be-slaves to the market in the first place, but I've never heard it spoken out loud. Do you have any research materials or books that cover this topic? Mahalo!

Or the Romans who were big slave owners. When we talk about all slavery throughout history I may post that info. My rant was about Obama's cronies (on his behalf) playing the race card. Are you saying the Black Muslims in Africa didn't capture, sell and own slaves? If so I refer you to my post for Dana and the video I supplied in my second post. Most of the black conservatives I've seen at the tea parties I attended probably aren't light skinned enough to suit Harry Reid; but then again, Reid isn't likely to be around after November.
I doubt if Chris Matthews will get any orgasmic tingles running up and down his legs from any conservative speeches; but do you think he will judge any of the black conservative politicians to be eloquent and clean enough to make him forget that they are black?
Oh well, it's already certain that liberal, low brow 'intellectuals' don't recognize any conservatives as a 'real black men/women'.

From 'The Liberal to English Lexicon":
Racist – n., 1. One who disagrees with DNC policies.; 2. A Republican.; 3. One who judges a person based on the content of their character, as opposed to the color of their skin.

PS – I haven't been by to read many articles here lately.
I like the new layout of the sight. Good work.

Very well said. I now know why history is so important. I have been lied to for so long and now I'm always searching for the truth. I now have a greater revelation of John 8:32. Enslavement begins with the mind, control a man's thinking and you control the man. Seek after the truth it will set you free!
