//  Emancipation II – This Time Even White Folks Get Freed

Posted on Monday, August 23rd, 2010 by Kevin Jackson

During the times of slavery, a slave owner could free his own slaves, but only with permission from the government. The process to free a slave was called manumission.  The laws at the time made it difficult to free a slave, and it was done only under extraordinary circumstances. We live in those same times today.

Manumission allowed a slave to experience freedom, an amazing feeling for somebody who has never had it. The last thing slave-owning Democrats of the time wanted was a bunch of free blacks running around living like free men!

Like whites, freed slaves, called Freedmen enjoyed freedom.  Slave owners recognized that freed slaves were bad for morale of other slaves, because they represented hope; the possibility of changing one’s status.  What people would want to be slaves, if they tasted freedom, even if only vicariously.  Having freedom so dangerously close might make blacks want to leave the plantation.

That is exactly what happened. Freedmen by their mere presence caused other blacks to get the nerve to escape the confines of the plantation. And why not?  The Revolutionary War slogan was “Give me liberty or give me death!” Could slaves not apply that same slogan to their plight, lest whites appear hypocritical?

Nevertheless, white slave owners relished in their hypocrisy.  And besides the obvious human rights violation of slavery, another reason given for limited manumission was the possibility of freed slaves taking jobs from whites!

“The more things change, the more they stay the same.”

Slavery is alive and well today, and it is not limited to blacks or the poor.  Slavery today confines everybody.  Either you are being taken care of by the government—the lazy slave.  Or you work through the end of August to pay your taxes, so the government can redistribute your money—the industrious slave.

Some might argue that the industrious slave is the most ignorant of the two slaves. No matter, because the government needs both sets of slaves.  They complement one another.

For the lazy slaves who are wards of the government, the government constantly tests what it takes to keep them from wanting to change things, or as LBJ said, “…just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.” When this slave gets uppity, the government throws a few more dollars at them, and finds the tipping point.

However, when Pelosi and other government gangsters...

need to shove a piece of unwanted legislation down the throat of taxpaying Americans, the non-working slaves must go to work. The field hands are bused to rallies or other protests, given signs, and asked to create a rancor.  The state-run media covers it as if it’s the real pulse of America—a warning to the industrious slave. It is this type of logic that has Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) believing that welfare is stimulus.

That stimulus is paid for by industrious slaves, whom the government constantly tests their threshold of pain.  Government will say things like, “We need to raise taxes to 70%!” When the industrious slave complains, the government settles on 40%, which is 5% more than the government wanted anyway.

Here’s the wrap:

We have finally reached the pivotal point in history, where the industrious slaves revolt.  Rabble-rousers on the Right are attempting to escape slavery, and are trying to bring others with them.  It may be working.

Like the white abolitionists of yore, Limbaugh frees slaves by explaining the inside workings of DC.  Beck joins the cause of freedom by educating on the Founding Fathers, the Progressive Movement, and corruption in government that hinders liberty.  There are others, like Levin, Ingraham, Medved, and Hannity, to name a few.

Black Conservatives like Thomas Sowell, Herman Cain, Alan Keyes, Walter Williams, et al lead Americans through education on the disgraceful history of Democrats with respect to blacks, and how those policies have led to government run amuck. These brave black warriors have battle scars from decades of fighting against government re-enslavement.

All of these great Americans, black and white have freed thousands from slavery and have created the current slave revolt.  It is because of all these people that I exist.  I am proud to join the fight.

Most don’t even realize that slavery has been government sanctioned since the ‘40’s. Make no mistake about it, it is not the intent of government to offer manumission to any modern-day slave. It will take strong resolve to re-emancipate people from the tyranny of government, which is why I call 2010 Emancipation II – This time even the white folks must be freed!

To quote Harriet Tubman, “I freed a thousand slaves. I could have freed a thousand more, if they knew they were slaves.”

That’s my rant!

Hey Kevin I like this article, and will be quoting some of it, if not all of it in a 9/12 tea party speech I'm working on, LOL! Keep em coming!

Kevin, we have known each other since the mid 70's and where distance has separated our day to day friendship and interaction our thoughts remain strongly aligned as we were then. As I am one of the "white's" I stood beside you as a friend then as I do today. That is because of honor and respect and the actions of integrity then and now. I don't recall that either of us ever thought then (or now) as black/white or African American/Southern White but friend/friend and American/American. Good article and thoughts. I wish more could think this way and your article certainly points out that American/American must become the common not the exception. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the profound words, Kevin.

It's high time that people realize that the shackles of slavery have been replaced by invisible shackles of a byzantine labyrinth of regulations and interdependent transfer payments from one person to another that is just sucking the life out of every member of the productive class. Any time the restaurant or other small business down the street fails, we always fail to blame the government which regulates everything from how goods are transported to what kind of toilets we use… and even then if you can fight through all of the government roadblocks to success, you must pay up to 60% in local, state and federal taxes on your profits. That is the invisible shackles of a soft tyranny at work. ;

Our government infantilizes and traps people into a false sense of security under government dependence and enslaves others into a demoralizing system of subsidizing everyone else. If we can break this cycle and reverse the government expansion of the last 100 years, then all people of all colors will benefit immensely.

Anyone who uses the words byzantine and labyrinth in the same sentence is OK by me!

Thanks for the note Duane. I am trying to remember which "Duane" you are, and can only guess you are a military school friend or from Brady? Regardless, we share the passion for America, and that's good enough for me.

RE: " “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” " — Reminds me of a piece that I wrote in 2007 – and recently attempted, to Wendi Thomas, The Commercial Appeal in reply to her recent article, http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2010/aug/15/... —

Wendi: Your article, "For Some, 1776 Was Not Really That Great", August 15, 2010 was interesting and added much to the efforts by the Tea Party event in adding a related, though not specifically germane aspect, to the celebration of a historical national event and an ongoing historical national event; the one for which the purpose of your invitation acceptance was to determine if the event was a "practical one".

Kevin, what happened? did we really expect that people would get smarter? the governemnt didnt have to do anything; people demanded themselves into slavery. my granny told me "anything the goverment gives you takes away your freedom". i learned that in grade school. from the largest corporation, to bill gates, to the beggar on the end of the freeway all gave up freedom to get something. the sooner the left realizes that they wont be the overseers, the sooner the country will get back to work.

Bravo! Bravo! I do not even have the words to express how accurate this article is. We need so many more people out here in the real world to understand where we stand in the governments eyes. Great thoughts and very well written!

Kevin – I have been reading your writings for some time now, roughly a year since I found you. I have been impressed with what I have been reading, and it sure is good to find another on the same page that I am on with respect to where our nation is and needs to head.

This piece, Kevin, wow, you hit the ball completely out of the park. I had not viewed it from that direction before, but, the soundness of your logic applied to an accurate history, bingo. That is the whole thing reduced to a very clearly understandable concept.

Your piece describes, I believe quite accurately, the goal of the ruling class as defined by Mr. Codevilla at American Spectator. Reading your piece, yes, exactly correct, they are working to keep us as slaves. And the ruling class is who is doing it.

We do still have the constitution, we can, and I believe will prevail. The question is how long will it take for enough of We The People to get our eyes fully opened.

Thank you, Kevin, for your fine efforts on accomplishing that task.

Buster

Kevin,

You are a GREAT thinker my friend! Your analogy of the “lazy” / “industrious” slave is spot on. The government really has us where they want us no matter which end of the spectrum we are on. One of the most insidious parts of this is the task master is propping up the lazy slave with the sweat of the industrious slave. On a positive point, I agree with you that there is a slave uprising coming. My prayer is that we come together as Americans of all colors and creed, and throw off the shackles of this heavy handed task master called Uncle Sam.

A recurring thought in my mind is how this is bringing us together as Americans as never before. I think the great Dr. King would be very proud that his dream is being realized now as maybe never before.

Keep up the good work my friend!

Slavery:you are a slave to anyone you owe money to and you are a slave to govt because you will always owe them some tax and you lose your freedom if you dont submit to it
