It’s a damn shame that people like Ms Garofalo are given the media attention that allows her commentary to set back America’s progress regarding race relations. Instead of trying to understand political ideological differences, her simplistic view boils such complex issues down to black and white. (No pun intended.) Simple mind, simple thoughts. Shame on her and anyone who buys into her ignorance.

THANK YOU!!! How witty! Only conservatives know how to have a good time, even when we the liberal left wing extremists are in charge. The joy of the Lord comes through, Kevin. I’d not heard of you before but am going to make every effort to be at this Friday’s Tea Party to cheer you on! Blessings on you, brother in Christ!

Here you are. For friends of mine at the 9/12 tea party, you were the star attraction. You deserve it. Hope you make it to Rochester or Buffalo one day. This old lady will be there to protect you.

I believe that these tea party protests and other similar to them are racist and full of racists. The reason that you don’t experience this is largely because you agree with them. Because you are a person whom the protesters can point at as a proponent of their immobile beliefs they like you.
The protesters at the event you invited Garofalo to were incredibly close-minded intolerant and quick to assume stereotypes of any of their opposition. Had you approached any of them and debated the other side of your gimmicky beliefs in a serious fashion I have no doubt you would have encountered some of those racists. To be clear it might not have started in a violent fashion, instead your beliefs would have been, to those “patriots,” a result of a flaw contained in your race. This is because those people (and probably yourself) are racists and they will make convenient judgments to demean and belittle any ideological opponent.
I’d like to point out that I am not speaking on just assumptions of what I think a caricature of a right wing protester would do. I honestly believe this is something contained within a large percent of the actual people there and I am speaking from experience.
I attended the millennium park protest that day in opposition to your “movement,” I was the guy wearing the sod-o-mite Doug Stanhope t-shirt and holding a sign that read, “protest rules, .” As soon as I showed up your protesters could discern from my sign alone: what my politics where (they claimed I was a liberal a rebel a communist ect…), what my employment status was (the majority believed I wasn’t in a position to be paying tax’s), my profession (I was told several times, once from a distance that I must be an artist), and how horribly depraved my upbringing must have been (some rather inappropriate and baseless things were said about my parents).
This could all be comfortably assessed of me from a distance and what’s more they had no qualms about letting me know right up front: what they knew about me and how it was a bad thing. Once I began to talk to these people they made very clear that my views and my opposition to them could only be a product of these and other stereotypical labels they wanted to apply to me. My belief is that they did this so that their beliefs could continue to be the only right ones. In their minds the information they had been given couldn’t have been wrong of presented in a manipulative fashion and to them it is much easier to dismiss than to engage.
Along with the close-mindedness of these people there was a quality amount of racism there. This racism was apparent towards Obama, Van Jones, supporters of Obama, black people and black youth. There were also a lot of hateful things said about middle easterners and an ignorant tendency to assume that all who practice Islam are terrorists or at the very least our enemies.
So believe me, as a person who experienced the intolerant and close-minded reality of what these people are, the racists you were looking for were shaking your hand inviting you to dinner and out fishing. If I had to guess, there is a pretty racist and intolerant person looking at you in the mirror every morning.

Please explain to us racists how Kevin, who is black (you have noticed he’s black, right?) is a racist.
BTW how’s that change working out for you? At around 9% unemployment I’d say it’s not working out for a lot of people. And before you begin, I know what you’re going to say, he inherited a mess from Bush, yada yada yada blah blah blah spin spin spin blame blame blame.

Hey, Kevin, HAHA I just had a great idea. It had to happen eventually, right? You take the people who comment here and put them into two groups – supporters, and whatever name you want to give the divisive commie democrat idiots who show up here to teach us Marxism. that way us supporters can read their comments, but instead of commenting back to them, we just comment to you or each other. “Hey, Kevin, did you read ‘Mao Jr’s comment? What an idiot.’ Or “Hey Da Sicilian, ‘I Love Barak’ just called me a racist again.’ It would be like putting the detractors in a glass cage but they couldnt talk to us. All this debating would come to an end and it would just be people who agreed with you talking amongst ourselves about the topic or about the people in the glass cage. I ain’t really worked out the details. But I ain’t really worked out the details about lunch either.

alex molinari says:

James,
If you think only white people can be racists then your a child. Furthermore I haven’t yet let slip my politics. Who and what I support haven’t been the subject of what I’ve written here or on my sign. The only thing I have come out starkly against is the intolerance, the bigotry, the close-mindedness, the hypocrisy and the racism at your events.

Your being quick to assume exactly what my politics were and on top of that my exact response, would be, to your baiting question proves exactly what I’ve been saying. Your weak mind can only put your opposition into a few stereotypical box’s, that you demean and belittle, in order to continue believing that your views not only aren’t wrong but can’t be wrong. My guess is that you do this because the idea that you might be wrong frightens you.

JJ
Nothing surprised me about what i found i fully expected you “patriots” to do exactly what you did. The whole world see this so I went there to get proof and i got it. In the hopes that you get this more, know that your not debating or denying anything I’ve said your calling me names like a child would can you see that.

And for your responses I haven’t said that your views are wrong and me saying that doesn’t mean that I agree or that I disagree with them. I just want to drive home that this isn’t about my politics it’s about you people being bad people.

Mark says:

Speaking of close-minded bigotry and intolerance. I’ve been to multiple Tea PArties talking to many people from Democrats, Independents, Libertarians and Republicans, including many blacks, asians, hispanics, and your lies are not true.

You are “coming out” against a strawman. You’re making up lies about good people that love their country and are concerned about the massive debt, higher taxes down the road and loading hundreds of thousands of dollars onto the backs of our children.

Get a clue. This has nothing to do with race and everything to do with terrible policy by this administration.

I had seen you on Glenn Beck before, but really just got to know you at the Tyler, TX Tea Party yesterday. Was so glad I came! You’re a dynamite speaker and I hope you get your own show on Fox. (I sent them a message!) They should put you in O’Reilly’s spot, not that I don’t like him. As Ann Coulter has said, black conservatives are the most persecuted group of people in our country today. A show on Fox could be a huge point of contact and moral support, perhaps a place to “come out of the closet” for your growing ranks. White conservatives are thrilled and inspired by your message, also. Didn’t realize HOW funny you could be ’til I watched this video! Consider me a fan! Congratulations on your successes, may they continue! May God watch over you as you spread the truth!

The left NEEDS racism (and classism) to further its agenda. A united people will not stand for their oppression, so they attempt to divide us. From ?where do we hear the continuous cries of racism? It’s either coming from the mass media, or from our ‘leaders.’ As we interact with one another, we typically get along.

Hollywood elites like Garofolo do not live in the world of average citizens, and she clings to her self-righteousness in order to make herself feel important and good. I’ve been to a few ‘tea parties’ and have not experienced any racial overtones. If there were, I believe the majority would squelch it immediately, as it is harmful to their cause, and contrary to their beliefs.

Amen Kevin. Saw you on Beck and loved the show. Where else will you get real discussion on tv with an all black crowd and guests who get it. It just shows us that Fox isn’t what they say it is, (A racist white only network). Fox holds true to its values and when they find it appropriate to air certain people they will no matter what race. You think CNN or MSNBC would ever have a black conservative crowd on for a real discussion. It is so obvious to me who is in the tank for the Democratic party who uses Political Correctness on top of its substantial weight to supress certain viewpoints on tv and promote others. I’ll tell ya Fox and guys like Kevin are really to be commended for waking people up and just talking about the truth.
I just have to say that I watched about ten minutes of the Rainbow Coalition Push from a church in Chicago today and Jesse Jackson’s kid was introduced by a woman who told the crowd to show up at a rally with all blacks and hispanics and Good Willed White People. Think about that. If you have to specify that the only whites to attend will be Good Willed but all the Blacks and Hispanics in her eyes dont need to be described, does’nt it say that she and many many others just take it for granted that all Blacks and Hispanics should and do think alike when it comes to rally’s and voting. I’d hate to say it but that is almost pure fascism. Man, it is tough to be black these days, not because whites are making it tough but your own people have made it that way with racist, suffocating policies and practices. We must be vigilant from now on.

hey gregg: it aint weird. liberals broads are all atheistic, lesbian, man-hating, depressed, Christ-loathing, eggless witches. Witches always look like a lumpy, wart-coverered pestilence. Conservative gals on the other hand love Jesus, love their man, are fertile and strong, can carry a tune, are made happy by dancing, and this turns all their faces into angelic, beauteous landscapes of hypnotic delight! Liberal broads are skanks in other words. Conservative broads are hot little cuties.

Hey Kevin! That video was pretty funny. May I say: I have had the privilege of meeting so many African-Americans every day on my deliveries. If most white Americans could see what I have seen, racism would be all but gone. I could tell you stories my brother. I delivered to the most dangerous and segregated communities in Pittsburgh, and EVERYONE was SO NICE. I love blacks: I don’t like to generalize or stereotype, but they are the most warm and christian people. Maybe Jeanine Garofalo doesn’t really know any black Americans. The people I know are just as upset about the bad apples in their neighborhoods as ANYONE would be. And although I never asked the question, I could guess that they didn’t need or want Jesse Jackson to be their mouthpiece. They can speak and do for themselves, thank you. My heart goes out to African-Americans for who they are, and I wish that I could let them know that not only are all white people not racists, but some of us love them dearly.

steve burton says:

Kevin, I worked and lived in Washington DC for many years and a large percentage of my friends happened to be black. I am originally from the hill country of Virginia and grew up in a very Christian culture. It seemed I had more in common with the majority of black folks I met than with white city folk.

I mention religion because I think it plays such an important part in life and how one sees the world. And I think liberals don’t get that at all. To them it is superstition or just plain old lack of reason. Faith played a tremendous role in the life of African-Americans during the times of slavery and Jim Crow and still is a source of cohesion within the black community today.

During the shameful period when this country participated in the African slave trade there was a great cultural tragedy that accompanied it. Africans were sold into slavery by tribal chiefs and the like and sometimes just captured outright by Western slave traders. These Africans came from a wide geographic area and from many tribes and cultural and language traditions. What is seen today as a unitary African-American culture actually grew from a process of assimilation among slaves on plantations. Before this terrible plight befell them, these people had separate histories and belief systems and links to civilizations dating back hundreds or thousands of years. There are excellent books that describe the history of the African continent and its myriad ethnic groups and traditions and the different empires that flourished on the continent. The fact that these things aren’t taught openly makes me wonder about something.

That would be that the liberal educational establishment doesn’t want blacks to see that Africa was pretty much like any other place throughout time. There were wars and empires and broad variety of art and other forms of cultural expression. That there was a history of strong people and not the eternal victims that the Left so loves to remind blacks that they are. Maybe if black kids, all kids ideally, learned these things they would decide they didn’t have accept the groupthink that the Left seeks to maintain within the African-American community.

Democrats and liberals always go on about how they want the best for blacks, but constantly have supported policies that undermine the lives of black people. The implementation of many social programs helped lead to the breakdown of the black family in America. They support stuff like gay marriage that the African-American community strongly opposes. Take DC for example. Over the express wishes of the predominantly black electorate there, the city council legalized gay marriage in the District. Most people of all ethnic and racial groups understand that the strongest and most basic unit of our civilization is one man and one woman in marriage producing and rearing their resultant offspring. Why would anyone want to undermine that by extending rights to relationships that absolutely will not naturally ever produce children? Marriage is supposed to be about something deeper than sex.

Gay people have the right to love one another in all ways now-physically and emotionally. Many states have domestic partnership laws and civil unions. As a libertarian at heart I don’t believe in any form of discrimination because it flies in the face of concept of liberty. The legal remedies mentioned above give gay people most every protection and right under the law as heterosexual couples enjoy.

Marriage is not a guaranteed freedom in the Constitution unless you start looking for penumbras and all those other fancy lefty terms for judicial activism. It is left up to each state to make laws governing the institution of marriage. Those laws usually set minimum age and other requirements and therefore reserve this special right. And it should be seen that way. God, nature or the cosmos designed the male and female bodies to fit together. Our genitals are specialized to work in unison to produce children. Marriage binds men, women and children together in society’s most important basic unit. It is the optimal life choice for the individual and for civilization as a whole. Even the Left should understand that.
