//  Is Gov’t or Are Doctors Meaner?

Posted on Friday, January 21st, 2011 by Kevin Jackson

On MLK’s birthday, Fox News featured Jim Clyburn (D-SC) who took the opportunity to tell America that Dr. King would have wanted nationalized healthcare.  Healthcare is about “civil rights.” I guess doctors and hospitals are the new racists, because the only person who can deny you healthcare, at least for now, is a healthcare giver.

In America, where the healthcare system according to Liberals is worse than Cuba’s, we have Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), the Congresswoman who was recently shot by the Obama-loving, Liberal fanatic, being flown to Houston for the best possible healthcare in the world! Giffords could have been flown anywhere, but her family selected Houston, Texas.  It should be noted that the survivability of a bullet to the head in Cuba, China, Russia, and about 99 percent of the world is 0 percent.

Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) , black Congressional poverty pimp was on Fox Business with Neil Cavuto holding up a picture of a lady who was receiving life-saving treatment on Medicare, claiming that the woman could have died without, get this…ObamaCare. Yet the woman in the picture was very much alive and being treated at taxpayer expense, not under ObamaCare.

Be sure to check out the funniest political book ever, The BIG Black Lie!

Cavuto implored Lee to make the connection between the photo and the prospect of repeal of ObamaCare since the lady was not being treated under ObamaCare but Medicare.  Lee deflected, saying essentially that government should be in control of healthcare, because government saves lives.

Government very well may save lives; but what we know with certainty is government doesn’t save money.

You have to question the motives of those who know that America has the best healthcare system in the world. I know the simple answer is “follow the money,” but I really do enjoy autopsying the brains of Liberals. Are they really so cruel as to want to dumb-down everything that has made America great. None of the Liberal elite has any plan on using the systems that they implement for us. They shamelessly create these “us versus them” scenarios that allow for only one real winner…the powerful.

Giffords, a Congresswoman will get the best treatment money can buy, in the best healthcare system in the world. And as we say in the black community, “I ain’t mad atcha.” I’m happy that Giffords could survive a bullet to the HEAD! Had Giffords been shot in Canada, she’d still be on a waiting list for surgery. Not in America.

Giffords was rushed to the hospital, and nobody asked for her medical credentials, they just operated. Did they save her life because she...

is one of America’s elites? Did they save her life, because she could afford it? Did they save her life, because they could? Don’t know, don’t care, and neither does Giffords or her family. Just know that if Giffords had been in the same situation in almost any country in the world, neither her status nor her money could have saved her, because they have inferior medical care.

Did anybody in Washington ever watch ER, or Grey’s Anatomy, or HOUSE for goodness sake. Even Hollywood gets it. Sure Hollywood will tell the stories of the poor and downtrodden being denied healthcare by the mean old insurance companies, as in the movie John Q, where Denzel can’t get treatment for his child. Of course it was the insurance company’s fault. What gets overlooked is all the people being treated in America for FREE. And not just in the people in trauma. In Hollywood as in life, our hospitals are treating almost all who visit for the most part. America currently has the closest thing to nationalized healthcare in the world.

But Hollywood is far more revealing about the heinous nature of my government, when they show just how much power the Fed can invoke over the citizenry. In the movie Enemy of the State, the Fed decides to ruin the life of an attorney because of something they “thought” he possessed. They didn’t even know what they were looking for. How many “movies” can you recall where the government was the bad guy? Yes, LOTS.

But Liberals trust the government. Forget Hollywood (conveniently) and despite the in your face examples that are openly showcased all the time, government is benevolent. Government will protect us. The same government that Liberals are angry at for “putting our troops in harm’s way.”

I don’t know how many ways to tell you that Liberals are LUNATICS! Sheila Jackson Lee in the aforementioned interview actually used the L-word…LOGIC in describing that a woman getting treatment under Medicare would have been DEAD had it not been for ObamaCare.  To a Liberal, that is logical. The same black leader who says that government is so corrupt and is “keepin’ a brotha down,” wants the very same government to have all the power. I won’t allow them to have it both ways.

Either the doctors and hospitals are racist, or the government is. Both groups have the ability to oppress. Doctors and hospitals treat patients every day who can’t pay, so I can’t connect the dots on their racism. Government on the other hand is doing what government does best…meddling and not saving lives.

I suspect that when government takes over healthcare, if you are choking on a chicken bone don’t expect the Heimlich maneuver. That is unless you show your ObamaCare card.

That’s my rant!

"Had Giffords been shot in Canada, she’d still be on a waiting list for surgery. "

As a Canadian, this sort of BS ticks me off. This is NOT true. The waiting lists are for "elective" surgery, not emergency treatment. No one who goes into the emergency room with a bullet wound or some other similarly deadly injury is going to be made to wait.

Our system has its flaws, but this sort of claim is totally false. You're not helping anything by spreading misinformation.

In Obozo's America, it won't be Democrat Orval Faubus' National Guard keeping the less fortunate out of the hospitals, it will be the throngs of deadbeats who are all of a sudden entitled to get the best healthcare in the world for free.

Even under managed care, which is way too common these days, people don't have an incentive to keep their health care costs low because they don't incur much of the cost when they use services. People should get emergency care regardless of their ability to pay and I'm not opposed to the government contributing to health savings accounts for the less fortunate to use as they see fit. But the fact is that not everyone is entitled to every single cutting edge miracle cure.

The Democrats paint a picture of people dying in the streets due to evil insurance companies. I don't see any evidence of that being true. They also make outright lies about insurance companies dropping sick people from their policies in order to save money. That practice has been illegal for decades. Ideally, people should be able to own their own insurance policies so that if they lose their jobs, they aren't stuck without insurance when COBRA runs out. What the Democrats are doing will not fix anything, and it will make our existing problems much worse.

I write satire, Kunoichi. The point is YOUR SYSTEM SUCKS! That is a FACT!

Agreed. Everything is associated with health. Safer car would be more "healthful," right? Anybody even considering that SAFE neighborhoods contribute to better healthcare?

Like I said, our system isn't perfect, but between myself and my family, we've had to use it a lot, and have had excellent care, with very rare exceptions. Yes, there are problems with wait times, but it largely depends on where you live and what sort of care you need. Urgent care gets flagged, which is why I'm not a widow right now. I still have a father, too, even after 5 strokes and an emergency pacemaker – and none of us have gone bankrupt or had to fight with insurance companies for treatment (the few things that aren't covered, on the other hand, and we do have insurance for, we've had problems. Having insurance isn't much good if the company keeps finding ways not to pay). On the other hand, I have friends in the US who are struggling because they can't afford insurance and can't afford medical care that would be dealt with without issue here in Canada. They can't even choose their own doctors. A friend's US family (4 members) got into a serious car accident late last year, hit by someone with no insurance. Their own insurance won't cover their treatment, and they now own over a million dollars between them. How is that better?

I'm no fan of Obamacare, but if you're going to use the Canadian system to knock it, use something that's really a problem, not something that's outright false, satire or no.

"owe" not "own"

I'm not going to explain satire for you. I will leave this easy argument to "Are there Americans going to Canada to enjoy your healthcare system?" Because I know of MANY Canadians who come here for ours. If the system works for you, then fine. As for ObamaCare, Canadian Health Care, Cuban Health Care or otherwise you can keep them all.

Kunoichi says:

Actually, I know several Americans who came to Canada and ended up staying here permanently, in large part due to our medicare system (keep in mind that each province is responsible for its own health care; there is no monolithic system). They are now Canadian citizens, too. I know people who moved to the US for higher paying jobs, only to come back because they actually got to keep less of their money, mostly because of the cost of health care (which is saying a lot, considering the incomes they commanded). For years we've had a "brain drain" of doctors moving to the US because of the supposedly superior system. Many of them have come back, and now increasing numbers of US doctors are coming to Canada to live and work.

So yes, there *are* Americans coming to Canada to enjoy our health care system, flaws and all, permanently.

You don't have to explain satire to me. However, one of the things about the political right that has appealed to me is the level of honesty. If you're just going to use satire to spread misinformation, you may as well be another Dem.

You're a liar. Your system has been exposed for what it is. A sham. More people die on Canada's HC than America's that is for sure. And as for all your American friends and returning ex-pats, frankly I don't believe you. Canada is a wonderful country, but it's not because of their HC. The problem with Canada is you are so consumed with your big brother to the South, that you won't see yourselves for what you are. Frankly I don't care what your HC system is like. The US can and should follow its own course. I'm glad you are happy with it, eh, and for being Canadian…good for you. But don't try to sell me your gold-plated dog shit, as pure gold. When I go to the doctor for ANYTHING, I get treated IMMEDIATELY, as do most Americans. Our broken system is 10X better than your "fixed" system that has ancillary clinics and essentially black market doctors to shore it up. I take back my satire, and will just say, keep you funky HC system, and while you're at it, take Obama…he will need a job in two years.

"You're a liar. … frankly I don't believe you."

Seriously? Are you really going there? You don't believe me, so I guess all those people don't exist. I'm sure they'll be surprised to know that.

Oh, and if you're going to claim Canadians fair worse than the US, you might want to check your facts, first. American citizens spend more on HC (83.93%), are more likely to die in infancy (23.05% greater risk), have a shorter live expectancy (by 3.05 years) and are more likely to contract HIV/AIDS (50%). The cost of malpractise suits cost Americans 4X more than Canadians. Of the few strong studies done comparing outcomes for things including cancer, coronary heart disease, chronic medical illness and surgical proceedures, half of them found Canadians faired better, but only 20% saw Americans fair better, while the rest showed mixed results.

"The US can and should follow its own course." Actually, yes, I agree with that completely, and never said otherwise.

"But don't try to sell me your gold-plated dog ****, as pure gold." I wasn't trying to sell you anything. In fact, I mentioned several times that our system has flaws. I don't think the US should imitate Canada's system, and I do think we could do well to adopt and adapt some ideas from the US system, as well as ideas from other countries.

What I am trying to do is 1) point out to you that your claim that Giffords would have been put on a waiting list if she were in Canada is false and 2) point out that spreading that sort of misinformation is a bad idea. Frankly, it makes you look stupid and, having followed your blog for a while now, I think you're too smart to be making such dumb comments. Unfortunately, your outright accusation that I'm lying and refusal to entertain the thought that you might be misinformed is making me wonder if I should be questioning other things you've said as well, as it implies a lack of integrity and honesty.

Oh, and you can keep Obama to yourself. We're already saddled with Ignatieff, Layton and May.

Well if I look stupid, how must you look for not recognizing the meaning sarcasm. We are right back to where we started, with some overly sensitive Canadian who can't take a JOKE about his country's HC system.

The ironic thing about your John Q example is that although they didn't specifically indicate that the health insurance that he had was through his UNION, they certainly implied it.
