my first post: A quote I think is cool/funny. Never attributed it to Franklin, but was poking fun at those who attribute quotes to the wrong people by ‘thanking him’.
(Just because you dont personally ‘get’ my humor doesn’t make it wrong)

My response: I know history. I know it wasn’t franklin. Added that nobody really knows who said it…I was poking fun at those who incorrectly attribute quotes. (i.e. it was a joke, mocking, ridecule, whatever you want to call it)

My response: Hello, it was a joke. (second time I’ve had to point it out) wake up.

Two people are standing at an unenclosed bus stop. It is 15 degrees below zero. They are both dressed appropriately, but not overdressed.
Person 1: (joking) Wow, its hot as hell out today, eh?”
Person 2: No, it is 15 degrees below zero. It is cold.
Person 1: I know it is not hot, jackass, I said hot, but I was joking. (and thought it was obvious based on the sarcastic ‘tone’)
Person 2: You have no ability to properly perceive temperature. You said it was very hot.
Person 1: I was joking! Did you choose to ingore that part or are you just stupid??
Person 2: You said it was hot. I said you were wrong. You said you said it was hot, but that you were joking. I said you were wrong.

Ahh insight into the libertard’s mind. If you say something, even as a joke, they will remove any context they desire in order to make you wrong and ignore all common sense and anything you say and beleive what they want.

I had arguements like this with an ex girlfriend of mine years ago…. she, like you, believed that her perception (i.e. they way SHE understood what someone said) trumped what the communicator really intended to say. Problem is, her listening comprehension was poor. No matter how clear I tried to make the meaning of what I was saying, in hermind it was whatever she understood it to be, typically to fit her mood/motives.

Here is a tip to help you get along better in life: If someone says something and you clearly show that you misunderstood what THEY WERE TRYING TO SAY, be it a stupid joke or a implied meaning or whatever, stop. Listen to them while they attempt to recommunicate it or clarify their intent/meaning. Since it was something that originated in THEIR HEAD and the only reason you heard/read it was because THEY CHOSE TO SAY/TYPE IT, then they own, 100%, the meaning and/or intent of the statement no matter how you want to perceive it.

so, alas, at the end of this rediculously long response while I eat my sandwich, it comes down to this…. You didn’t get my joke when you first read it, so by the twisted definition of your mind, it wasn’t a joke…I was just wrong. Sad.

if you put this much effort in *before* you wrote, FA, you might not have to resort to these logical contortions once someone w/ half a brain reads your posts. stop calling people names, you haven’t earned the right.

The quote was just that, a quote. I thanked Jefferson as a joke. I was poking fun at the way people (like you) believe everything they read, when it suits their needs.

I wanted to say I can’t believe I had to explain that…but then again…in the spirit of “calling people names and disparaging people’s intelligence”, I should have expected it from you. Moron.

i know this may seem petty, but i hate hypocrisy, and you persist in calling people names and disparaging people’s intelligence, yet are so wrong so often.

I say it stems from a choice. Be a victim and whine about ‘da man’. or BE a man and be responsible for yourself. someone ‘whined’ about their situation of drugs, vilence and whatever, put it to cadence and tada! Rap music. (there is a lot of sarcasm in there, so please don’t pick apart my music history)

everyone in this world wants money, comfort and love. Someone who has none of those and is in the same situation as the above guy sees that he can make loads of money and try to buy the other two and tada! another rapper. Somewhere along the line someone tried to give it history and meaning….give it hear and soul. The honorable Barry White would turn over in his grave. It is about getting rich and it works, so more power to them. Don’t make it about history. It ain’t.
