credit card melting

Be sure to check out my book The BIG Black Lie I think you will find it is a “must have” in every conservative’s collection.  I appreciate the support!

The financial institutions have done nothing wrong, except take advantage of the rules that Obama and his crooked Democrat cronies allowed to be put in place.  Yet Obama is determined to make the financial industry the Boogeyman in this “crisis,” and to legislate more socialism.

Promoting even more massive government, Obama is proposing new protection from capitalism for us stupid citizens, as Obama put itto tamp down the kind of deceptive lending practices and complicated contracts he said often hurt consumers.” So what do we get for our $3.6T and counting—the Consumer Financial Protection Agency.

By 2012 this agency will consist of around 100,000 people sitting around playing Dominoes and watching reruns of The Jeffersons all day—at taxpayers’ expense.  However, if we must have protection, I suggest the first target of this new agency be the US Government’s own Internal Revenue Service.  They certainly qualify, per Obama’s comment.  The IRS takes our money in advance and puts it in an account, supposedly for us.  Right!

By April 15 you must have filed to recover some of your money, and the IRS certainly makes it easy to get that money back, as noted by U.S. Representative Jim DeMint (R-SC)

The federal tax code with its 44,000 pages, 5.5 million words, and 721 different forms is a patchwork maze of complexity and a testament to confusion over common sense.”

So in Obama’s own words from this Washington Post article, the IRS itself uses

those ridiculous contracts — pages of fine print that no one can figure out.”

I would take trying to understand the “fine print” of any private sector financial institution document over trying to understand the IRS tax code any day!  The IRS can do essentially whatever it chooses to do keep the money you have deposited in “their” bank account, and they can use any “crisis” they want to play with the system, as showcased here.

“Congress enacted an income tax in October 1913 as part of the Revenue Act of 1913, levying a 1% tax on net personal incomes above $3,000, with...

a 6% surtax on incomes above $500,000. By 1918, the top rate of the income tax was increased to 77% (on income over $1,000,000) to finance World War I. The top marginal tax rate was reduced to 58% in 1922, to 25% in 1925 and finally to 24% in 1929. In 1932 the top marginal tax rate was increased to 63% during the Great Depression and steadily increased, reaching 94% (on all income over $200,000) in 1945. Top marginal tax rates stayed near or above 90% until 1964 when the top marginal tax rate was lowered to 70%. The top marginal tax rate was lowered to 50% in 1982 and eventually to 28% in 1988. During World War II, Congress introduced payroll withholding and quarterly tax payments.”

Here’s the wrap:

IRS_happy_digitalWe don’t need another government agency, nor do we need protection from Capitalism. We need protection from the government.  Any potential harm that could be done by the private financial sector pales in comparison to what our government agencies do to taxpayers routinely.  And the most egregious financial institution to the American people is the IRS.

There are good potential solutions to the tax code, and the government knows it.  The Fair Tax and the Flat Tax are two such potential fixes.  Easy to calculate, and free from government manipulation, and very different from the status quo.  Obama agrees, as indicated in the same Washington post article:

“…But what I will not accept, and I will vigorously oppose, are those who do not argue in good faith. Those who would defend the status quo at any cost.”

Based on this comment, I predict Obama will be arguing with “self.”  I suspect that Obama’s proposed fix for capitalism won’t apply to the status quo of the tax code.  Because what all good Marxist need is a bully like the IRS to give their beatdowns.

That’s my rant!

Protection from government is becoming more and more illusive, but more important everyday. Is there any part of our life’s he isn’t trying to dictate? Soon he will be telling us how many squares of toilet paper we can use. And Al Gore will be trying to sell you more.

@Julie – I agree, we need to be protected from these henchmen more than in the history of the US! 2010 must be a mandate to get rid of these socialist crooks!

Wasn’t scrolling down far enough. I’m all for dumping the IRS all together , along with that new agency Obama is creating. Sadly what Obama will probably try to do away with is the Congressional Budget Office.

Hey Julie, I actually wrote a blog on the new legislation on TP usage. http://reallysaying.blogspot.com/2009/06/congress-to-legislate-tp-usage.html

Seems that’s where we’re going.

Unfortunately I can definitely forsee Obama and Congress giving us a break from the status quo by implementing a flat (VAT) tax while leaving the IRS and income tax still in place. I’m sure there’ll be all sorts of assurances and promises about how the status of the IRS will be reviewed at a later date.

Creating new governmental agencies is how B-Rock will create or save 3.5 million jobs.

Implementing the Fair Tax will just tee off politicians because we would be easily able to screw up any spending plans that congress implements that goes against the will of the people by simply not consuming anything past basic essentials. Giving all that power back to us.

For Obama, I.R.S. stands for I Run S%*t!

Let’s see,
Troubled Asset Relief Program
The Stimulus Package
Healthcare
Obamanent Domain
Climate-’friendly’ agriculture (currently hung up by farm states)
Consumer Financial Protection Agency

We will have lots of work in 2010 to make sure the One breaks his stride on a bureaucracy too far… . In the same regard, her certainly is giving us a lot to work with.

Oh, you want to get me started on the IRS code again? I had to deal with that for 15 years. You sum it up well that bascially is just a jumbled mess, many of which contradicts each other, to confuse and ofisicate so that IRS can just take what they want and tell you to be happy with what you got. As George Harrison once wrote during the 19 for me (the tax man) and 1 for you. If 5% seems too small, be happy that I don’t take it all. That’s BO’s philosophy.

Personally, I would love to see BO argue with himself. It would be the most entertaining, if not productive, activity he’s done since winning the election. At least it would be honest, I just don’t know how honest the winning side of his split personality would dominate.

And for what are we getting for this? Another branch of government we don’t need. My credit card compnay just rewarded me for all my good payments and services by increasing the interest rate 50% to make up the bad debts they made. The sad reality is that this mess wasn’t created by captialist trying to make a profit, but by government taking legal bribes to allow this bubble to grow geometrically (that’s exponentalily for you liberals out there) til it not only popped, but exploded because they refused to enforce the regulations that were already in place and we have Barnie Frank to thank for it (as well as Bush, but BF was the one that covered it up). So as usual, the bloated government proved to be the problem and now we have a socialist demanding even a more bloated government as the solution. That Bizzaro math is sure hard to figure out. Guess someone forgot to tell BO that cartoon logic doesn’t work in the real world.

With every day that goes by, Obama is sucking more and more power FROM the people to his control. I do believe though that the people are getting wise to this tyrannical manipulator and are seeing the light. I’ll be interested to see what happens on July 4th in regard to planned Tea Parties. Also, I was driving yesterday and there on the side of the road was this massive banner, held up by wooden 2×4 stakes. It simply said “Stop Socialism” in red lettering. Didn’t say who sponsored it or anything, but seeing it made me smile. There’s a growing grass-roots movement. Find one in your community and join it.

With a wife & two kids, it is very tough to make it as the sole bread winner, in comparison to 25 years ago. My family needs every dime I make, instead of watching it build higher tiers of government wasteful jobs!

Well said Kevin. Every morning when Obama wakes up he’s got another dictatorial proposal for us, that he spins to be “good for us”. Well B.S., I’ve never been more afraid for my country. He made fun of those turning to guns and prayer…. well, what else is there when you’re dealing with this sort of tyranny. On the other hand, I think the numbers are growing of those who feel as we do. It’ll be interesting to see what’s in store for July 4th tea parties. I was driving yesterday and there on the side of the road was a mammoth banner, red block letters on a white canvas, held up with 2×4 stakes in the ground. Simply said: STOP SOCIALISM. Amen.

Kevin – great website – I honestly don’t believe our President wakes up in the morning thinking – how can I royally screw up this country? – coming from the protected, theoretical world of academia, he simply doesn’t know any better.

Ah, Kevin,

The bottom line here is we need a strict return to the Constitution of these United States, and that means abolishing both the Federal Reserve and the IRS (both wholly unconstitutional when created).

Now, you show me a candidate willing to do that and there’s my vote.

Kevin you are right about the tax code needing to be changed, there is in the House HR 25, in the Senate S-25. They are the Fair tax Act. This is based on what you buy not on what you earn. But this bill has another bill with HJR 16 this would do away with the 16th Amendment Income Tax with holding April 15 would be just another day in spring. But alas this will never happen because it would do away with the IRS and when have you ever heard of a government agency going away after creation? It would also be a savings of 1 trillion or more dollars from the budget, Another never heard of thing from the fools on the hill. Another thing I see this doing is having the fools control spending (never happen) because they can not predict how the american people will spend their money. But I do see a pick up of 30 to 40 million new taxpayers, IE: Illeagls, pimps, drug dealers, prostitues, and anybody else that works for cash. Everyone has to buy things to live. There is a book out there written By John Linden (R) GA and Neal Boortz talk show host from Atlanta GA he is on 750 AM radio that explains this better.
