 //  The UnArt of Compromise

Posted on Tuesday, December 7th, 2010 by Kevin Jackson

Check out my book The BIG Black Lie, the funniest political book ever, and an Amazon best-seller.

Republicans are strutting around the barnyard like the cock of the walk. They made Obama extend the Bush tax cuts, and only gave another 13 months of unemployment insurance to millions of Americans. Bravo for the Republicans…for being played.

Don’t believe the hype that the Liberals are up in arms about this deal. A few are, but the real puppet masters got exactly what they wanted.

13 months is 56 weeks. Does anybody even remember that unemployment was originally 26 weeks?

At 99 weeks we were at almost four times the original duration of unemployment, now we’ve added 56 weeks, more than double that original amount. Don’t think that unemployment benefits will be reduced…EVER!

Unemployment benefits are just redistribution of wealth.  The Liberals got another inch, and are still working towards that mile. If you don’t believe me, ask yourself this question:  Has there been any discussion of a limit on unemployment benefits?

The fact is there is no limit on unemployment for Liberals. Keep in mind this is the group who votes themselves fat pensions that pay them for LIFE. Government workers and unions, getting paid to do nothing with no reduction in lifestyle. These benefits are a payoff to the poor to keep voting Democrat, because the Republicans won’t allow you to get free money.

What did the Republicans get? They got what they already had!

As usual the Republicans missed an opportunity to step on Obama’s skinny neck, and brightly illuminate the reason for the need to extend unemployment for two Christmases:  Obama’s policies can’t create jobs. In fact, Obama’s policies kill jobs!

Obama promised 4.1M jobs, when he was running, yet there is no mention of this. He then promised to create 95K new jobs every month this year, yet he’s done bupkus!

But instead of reminding Americans about Obama’s inability to accomplish anything, and his complete incompetence, the Republicans cave on unemployment.  The millions of people whose unemployment was to be cut off needed to be reminded of Obama’s incompetence, and not sold on the idea that Republicans are heartless. Republicans are job creators. The tax cuts are a PROVEN way to create jobs and help the economy.

However, this Republican move is strictly symbolic. Strategy 101. Business as usual for a group that still hasn’t learned how to fight.

A two-year extension of the Bush tax cuts is a reprieve, a stay of execution and not a pardon. Businesses will see this as two-years to batten down the hatches,...

not to invest.  After all, there is a socialist in the White House, and the way the Republicans fight, he might be there four more years.

Since nobody else seems willing to say this I will. When did the rich stop being Americans? Do they have rights or are they to be bandied about like a ping pong ball for political expediency.

There is nothing wrong with being rich.

Most kids I know aspire to be this, so do you hate KIDS?! Most poor people I know want to be some version of “rich,” do you hate poor people? It’s counter-intuitive to hate the rich, because most of us strive to be rich. Why does the government want us to hate our potential selves?

And when discussing “those who make over $250K,” Democrats are quick to discuss “millionaires.” Well making $250K does not make you a millionaire. And even if it did, who is the government to put a limit on your productivity, your aspirations and dreams?

Claire McCaskill said on Fox News today,  [pp] “…the millionaires ‘second million’ should be taxed heavier.” Why? Because in order to be a millionaire, you must be evil, right?

Here’s the wrap:

Letting the Republicans represent taxpaying Americans is like having a pedophile watch your kids.

The Republicans should have forced Obama to let the Bush tax cuts expire, thus increasing taxes on everybody.  The unemployed would have had to deal with their lack of funds and lack of jobs, and they would know exactly where to put the blame. But the Republicans were afraid of being demonized, and supporting the rich.

The rich deserve to be supported. Outside of government jobs, it is the rich who employ people—and the government. It is time that Republicans stop allowing rich to be treated as second-class citizens. But they won’t.

So Obama is Santa Clause for the next two years.  He is funding reparations to the poor, payoffs for the remainder of his campaign season!

Most of the unemployed now qualify to be wards of the government. And if they don’t mind waiting in long lines, along with unemployment, they can now get housing assistance, a “food” credit card, a cell phone, and a host of other benefits. Welcome to Sugar Land.

The added benefit for most is they can go on their hustle. A hustle is a little “somethin’ somethin’” that the government doesn’t have to know anything about. A cash deal or a barter. The government encourages this behavior, because you can only go so far with a hustle. Once you’re on the hustle, the government has you right where they want you. Voting Democrat.

Merry Socialistmas, this year and next!

This is a violation of the two most important principles of all: following the Constitution's enumerated powers and federalism. Have I heard anyone bring up whether it's even the proper role of the federal government to be funding unemployment "insurance" for all 50 states? Where in the Constitution does it say that people who are out of work should be paid by the federal government? Look, if California wants to provide its citizens with 1,000 weeks of unemployment checks, let them do that, but don't expect the rest of us to bail them out when they go broke. It's no wonder we can't get people to create jobs when we have such a large percentage of the work force that is demotivated by perverse government disincentives towards work.

Funny, I think the same as you do. If you haven't read "Defying Hitler"- you should. Sebastian Haffner wrote that the gov't providing everything for all in theory is great. At first, people fight it, and then they gradually only exist. Why? Because if they give you everything, they then rob you of hopes, dreams and your individuality.

This is where extension of unemployment begins to rob others of the American Dream. Think about when the wall of the GDR came down. All the east Germans were resentful because they had no idea anymore how to think or work for what they wanted.

As a small business owner, we would not hire anyone unemployed for more than a year. They are out of the loop and do not keep up in their field. We are then forced to use head hunters to find people worth employing. But this is *exactly* what the left wants.

…Kevin…As usual, a "spot on" analysis!

Excellent insight into a mounting debacle about to confront the country.

Can't wait for your new book!

Oops, unfinished thought- What the left wants to bankrupt the people into complacency and dependency so they can move forward with the Utopia experiment. And I say: over. my. dead. body.

All the Republicans need to do is state that they are standing for the producers – those people who actually keep the country up and running. Then they need to demonstrate that the Democrats want the taxes because they want to reward the unproductive at the expense of the productive. Then I would give them a choice: Either free the producers or we go on strike.

O only has power because people are expected to sacrifice for the group as a whole (of which he is top dog) and it is this ethic which must be challenged because it is incompatible with liberty which means, capitalism,

Kevin in the words of one of Big O's obviously favorite movies, Hustle & Flow….."it's hard out here for a pimp. When he trying to get this money for the rent." He just pimped the Republicans because they have the power to just say no and force his hand even though we are still under a lame duck congress. Now we have people who can stay on unemployment for 3 years, we all get to keep our tax rates at the 2009 levels yet Big O can stand in front of the American people and continue to field softball questions from the press about how he will change Washington…. WTH! One thing is for certain this is the first time that O has made a decision without his boys being in his ear!

You nailed it Sir RonB, as O will get softballs. I think all this hoopla is the Left just playing chess.

Good for you. I think we need more people to take this seriously. We are VERY close to the edge.

I agree. Why nobody stands up for the producers? I have begun doing lots of radio to applaud the “rich.” The rich are citizens to, and it’s time the scorn go towards the people sucking off America.

I can’t disagree. How long before we have more people taking than producing. I think we may be there!

Kevin, correct me if I'm wrong (as I've been known be to at times), but isn't a lot of politicians wealthy? Are they so quick to give their money (ie, salaries, perks, pensions, inheritances) away to people like me who have NO job and get NO unemployment? I'd like to see any rich politician offer up their money over $250,000 up for the masses. By the way, I'm old school, I don't want a hand out. I'd rather get my money the old fashioned way……EARN IT!

D.D. says:

By the way, pardon my use of grammar. I mean to write "aren't a lot of the politicians in office today wealthy?" My fingers were faster than my brain!

Kevin- The first reply was to nohammer. Still, the book, "Defying Hitler" is a fantastic read.
Having been to the GDR, or East Berlin, I can tell you that I would never bow to the emptiness I saw in the lives of the people there. It's when I understood the meaning of the "Cold War" serving and why we had interests in the freedom of others and the tyranny and oppression they faced.

defendusa says:
December 10, 2010 at 5:27 pm

Nobody stands for the producers because the men and women in government are not standing for the people anymore, but for themselves and the power. When the government comes before the producers, it's time to revolt be it peaceful or God forbid, not.
I reject the premise that they are allowed to tax the rich just because they have more than the rest of us. I have no green-eyed monster in my closets.

Kevin, excellent article. You actually just made me feel a lot better as you validated some of my suspicions and (unfortunately) worries on the competence of either party to use the brains God gave them or operate in truth (I know that's asking alot).
You probably don't remember, but I had left a comment months ago expressing my inability to counter-act liberal Dem worship among my family and you told me to keep trying. So far it's not working at all, all I get is screaming and fist-pounding, I think it's a near impossibility. Not to sound like a wet blanket but for those of us who have seen the light (I used to be liberal as a lot of young people are) I see proof that we have a hard fight ahead. I look forward, however, to January and some new blood like Mr. Allen West ,et al..

I apologize for the need to post again and for going off-topic but I have to add, when it comes to my lib family members and, in fact, for most libs, what I have found truly amazing is that, to them, conservatism is the greatest evil the world has ever faced. And as bizarre as that idea seems to us, that IS what they think and that is a big hurdle. Then again, maybe it's not worth the effort to convert libs but instead let them slip into extinction or wait for the inevitable explosive collision of ideals.

The Republicans can't even handle the simple assignment of being the party of "no." They certainly can't be depended upon to educate the public on why they should say no and explaining the loss of individual choice. As Codevilla puts it in his excellent book, the Republicans want to be in the clique of the Ruling Class.

Not in the WRITTEN, ratified Constitution… but what the hey[!] We the Peons are merely a burden on those we elect to serve and protect.

Just had a thought… If the slaves of the 1700's and 1800's were as piss-poor at being servants to their "masters" as modern-day servants, Poly-ticks (many-bloodsuckers) in DC (and many States), are to their masters, We the People of these United States of America, slavery would have died a natural death, on the vine!

We cannot fix the wrongs of the past, but WE SURE AS HECK CAN PUT IN AN EFFORT TO FIX THE FUTURE!
