The bottom line is the thing, as it is in every business. This is the reason for the Rick Sanchezes, the robot that sounds like Mike Huckabee, and Dennis Miller (even though he puts on a decent product). These guys established themselves in other industries, and somebody set a mike in front of them. I don’t know how Occupy Wall Street can make the claim that all corporations care about is profit, when there would be far more profitable options than Huckabee and Sanchez.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Mike Huckabee–I just don’t think the guy is made for radio. So for the guy trying to enter the business? Good luck. I tried trolling once (in internet parlance, picking a fight on purpose for publicity), but it’s not my style. I won’t say things that are mean or nasty for publicity, because I think I am smarter than that.
The only option is the one I use: Produce the best product I can, and try to honestly market that product.

It would be easy to turn liberal in my business. I listen to some of the syndicated shows and want to scream, “You could be so much better!”
But they clearly know something I don’t. So if you read this blog post, and you hear of a radio station looking for a host, email me at email@example.com. Until that time, prayer, reflection, hope, and thanks to my injured right knee, another post very soon. I promise that one will be more fun!
Next up: The Talk Radio Takedown: The categories of hosts, my gripes with individual hosts, and why I am different!
P.S. I will be guest hosting the morning show on NewsRadio 94.3WSC tomorrow, March 19, 2013. 6A-9A EST (www.943wsc.com)
