SCOTUS Adds Review of MI Affirmative Action Law

It’s hard to believe that 50 years after Martin Luther King Jr. said,”I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character” the high court is reviewing the Michigan law that purposely excludes skin color from the equation.

In November of 2006 Michigan residents were presented with a ballot measure to outlaw preferential treatment of applicants on basis of race in education and in government hiring. Now the Supreme Court is reviewing cases of Affirmative Action across the nation and has added Michigan to the review, despite the desire of the voters in the state to judge applicants based solely on performance and character, not race.

Sure sounds like we’re going backwards, doesn’t it?

America represents the land of opportunity, not guaranteed outcomes, the land where a work ethic not a race card, can reap rewards and achieve dreams.
