As we are on the eve of the new Congressional Committee on Oversight and Government Reform hearing “Benghazi: Exposing Failure and Recognizing Courage,” a refresher may be in order.
I wrote this on October 11, 2012, the night following the initial Benghazi hearing. In fact, I watched and re-watched the questions and testimony throughout the night in an effort to assert nothing less than absolute truth: certainly a result not considered by Obama, Clinton, and the others who obfuscated.
Tomorrow many of the principals will be the same — Rep. Darrell Issa steering the proceedings, Trey Gowdy and others asking razor sharp questions over and over until even the deaf Main Stream Media cannot ignore the answers.
Here then is the recapitulation:
Wednesday morning marked the start of the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee hearings on diplomatic security in Libya, and the setting and seriousness were vaguely reminiscent of the Watergate hearings 39 years ago–with the exception that these hearings concerned government inaction that resulted in Americans being brutally murdered.take our poll - story continues below
Rep. Darrell E. Issa, chairman, moderated and opened with, “The Oversight Committee mission reads ‘We exist to secure 2 fundamental principles. First, that Americans have a right to know that the money Washington takes from them is well spent, and second, Americans deserve an efficient, effective government that works for them. Our duty on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee is to protect these rights. Our solemn responsibility is to hold government accountable to taxpayers, because taxpayers have a right to know what they get from their government.”
