Super Bowl XLVIII is upon us, chips and dips festooned in homes across the nation in preparation for the big game and the big-money ads.
Folks in towns big and small sit anxiously through church services, praising God for His grace and for America. This amazing experiment in freedom, kept free at the expense of the brave.
And maybe, quietly, thanking God for football.
This year Budweiser gets it. Watch and smile.
Set to the music of “Coming Home Pt. II” by Skylar Grey, Lt. Chuck Nadd is welcomed home by his community.
Oh sure the Budweiser Clydesdales are in on the touching moments — this is, after all, an advertisement. But the grand equines are not the focal point, they’re merely seen in bits and backdrops.
And that commercialism sits easy when the intention is as good as the point of this very good ad:
Every soldier deserves a hero’s welcome.
Well done Budweiser/Anheuser Busch! Well done!
