First Things First, President Obama was finally given his own verified Twitter account @POTUS
The President was so excited that he had to let the world know. Never you mind that the Islamic State just took over Ramadi. You remember that place in 2004 that our American soldiers died for? Oh heck, why would we tweet about such a tragic event that had worldwide coverage, when we can talk about unicorns and rainbows right?
Here is President Barack Obama’s first tweet, and of course, a photo opportunity to cherish the moment:
Hello, Twitter! It’s Barack. Really! Six years in, they’re finally giving me my own account.

Then came the @WhiteHouse Twitter account:
President Obama. In the Oval Office. Tweeting. #WelcomeToTwitter, @POTUS! http://t.co/SzWXltjNK0 pic.twitter.com/ce4DurwYXj

What a momentous occasion, as thousands of civilians are fleeing their homes, Barack Obama is playing with social media.
