America – How the Tables have Turned and Turned the Constitution Against Itself

America’s foundation was far from perfect, after all it was founded by men; however, as imperfect as it may have been, it was founded on the principles of God and His Word.  The Founding Fathers were intent on creating a God  fearing, Christ loving nation, where all individuals would be free.  Their desires are quickly fading as our Constitution is being turned against itself.

John Adams warned us, “Our Constitution was made only for a religious and moral people; it is wholly inadequate for the use of any other.”

America has departed from an attempt to put behind us the times of bigotry, racism and mistreatment of women to placing in front of us bigotry, racism and mistreatment of men.  There is currently no better illustration of bigotry in America than that of the treatment of Christians and Christianity.

My wife Chemene was in Pat’s office who is one of her clients. They were engaged in a conversation regarding Pat’s soon-to-be retirement.  She was going to retire because in the last five years Pat had beaten ovarian cancer, breast cancer and brain cancer.  Unfortunately the brain cancer had returned and she was told it was terminal.

Their conversation turned towards Jesus Christ and His Father and my wife relayed a story she heard.  “God allows us to get old and our bodies break down so we will have a greater desire to leave this world and less of a desire to fight to stay here.”  Pat was so inspired by this as it gave her immeasurable comfort.

A few moments later a fellow worker came in and scolded Pat, “You know your personal opinions are not appropriate for the work place.”  Pat, having dealt with her before, realized she was referring to God and simply said “Okay.”

As Pat walked my wife out of her office, my wife asked her if she was going to get into trouble.  Her reply was “Yes, I will probably be written up; but really what can she do to me?”

In a nation founded on Christianity how is this possible?

In a letter to Thomas Jefferson dated June 28, 1813, John Adams stated, “The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity.”

America’s founding principles came directly from the Word of God, the Bible.  Yet today, Christians are told to be quiet and the 1st Amendment is used as the rationale for their silence.  Anyone who has read the 1st Amendment and the discussions surrounding it realizes it was not to protect pornography, atheism and our enemies.  And it for sure was not to protect us FROM Christianity.  So you see how the tables have turned.

We can all agree that hate or mistreatment of an individual because of their lifestyle is wrong, although disdain for their actions is another story.   Here is a dilemma which is taking America to our knees, and not to pray.  It seems in America we cannot distinguish disliking an individual’s actions verses disliking an individual.  When your child does something wrong, like running into the street, you do not hate your child; however, you hate their actions.

An instance where Christians are expected to be quiet or they are referred to as bigots, is if they speak out against homosexuality, abortion or euthanasia.  Any Christian who follows the Word of God knows they are to love their enemies; however, they also realize if they perceive an individual in sin, they are to warn them.

So if Christian’s obey God’s Word, we are bigots.  This is in direct contrast of America’s foundation and again we are able to see how the tables have turned.

In regards to slavery we can all agree it was wrong; even our Founding Fathers believed this.

George Washington revealed, “I can only say that there is not a man living who wishes more sincerely than I do to see a plan adopted for the abolition of slavery.

George Mason, called ” The father of the bill of rights”, said in his address to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, “As much as I value a union of all the states, I would not admit the southern states into the union, unless they agreed to the discontinuance of this disgraceful trade, because it would bring weakness and not strength to the union.”  The augmentation of slaves weakens the states; and such a trade is diabolical in itself, and disgraceful to mankind.”

Many black individuals believe the whites owe them a debt for what happened decades ago and as such, should be treated specially.  Not equal treatment, but special treatment.  As a teacher for 22 years I can tell you they are much more disruptive, and consequences for those actions are not a deterrent or equal. Do these beliefs help or hurt their cause?

How could this possibly help their cause?  It cannot.  I have a black friend who disclosed to me members of his family who are going on their 3rd generation of welfare.  That is three generations of individuals who have never worked a day in their life because of their entitlement belief.  So is it any wonder they have a poor work ethic or education is not a significant part of their life?  A considerable portion of America’s history taught in our schools is in regards to civil rights; and one thing never mentioned was the importance the white Christians and Christianity played in eliminating slavery.

All the same, here is the complete U-Turn where a black individual can say or do pretty much anything to a white individual; however, the reverse is called racism.  When was the last time you saw a huge story break out in reference to a black police officer shooting a white individual?

As well, we all concur women should not have been treated as second class citizens.  Men and women are obviously different, although we all should be treated equally.  However, there is probably nothing more stressful or dangerous for a man today than working with or around women.

I am not expressing a belief that women are hard to work with or for; what I am saying is women have an enormous amount of power over men in today’s society.  For instance, if a man and woman have a night of leisurely sex and the woman wishes she had not done so, she can cry rape.  Whether or not there is any truth or legal conviction in the matter, the gentleman’s life will surely change.

This power extends to all women no matter the age.  I have seen 12 year old girls attempt to manipulate a better grade from their male teachers simply by suggesting they would tell the principal they touched them inappropriately or exposed themselves.  I have seen men get fired from their job simply because a few young girls were angry at them and lied regarding inappropriate touching.

I understand in many of these situations it may be the minority performing these negatives behaviors; nevertheless, they are the ones receiving the headlines.  And even if that is the case, why are those in the majority not speaking out against these actions?

This is genuinely occurring in America.  We have done a complete 360 degree turn from one extremely negative behavior to another.  What a good and Christian America would do, is realize many wrongs existed in our past and move on, not use it to exploit others.
