Black Student at Columbia University Claims Reading Books About Whites Traumatized Her

You have to admire how wackademia has taught black Liberals how to see racism where none exists.

The latest claim is from a black student at Columbia University who said she was severely emotionally traumatized from reading too many books by and about white people. The student, Nissy Aya was originally supposed to graduate in 2014. Aya alleges the emotional anguish has made it so painful that it caused her to now be on track to graduate in 2016. It couldn’t possibly be that Ms. Aya was allowed into Columbia on Affirmative Action, then figured out that she couldn’t cut it?

Every black student before her studied “white people” in books written by the very same, and they are traumatized. But don’t let logic interrupt the victimhood of this young black Liberal.

The current Core Curriculum at Columbia requires students to take a series of six classes on the history of Western and European civilization. According to an article in The Daily Caller: this is the reason for the trauma:

“’It’s traumatizing to sit in Core classes,’ she said. ‘We are looking at history through the lens of these powerful, white men. I have no power or agency as a black woman, so where do I fit in?’

As an example, Aya cited her art class, where she complained that Congolese artwork was repeatedly characterized as ‘primitive.’ She wanted to object to that characterization but, in the Spectator’s words, was ‘tired of already having worked that day to address so many other instances of racism and discrimination.’”

So now, a college with one of the top reputations of academics and graduating students on time is supposed to cater to black students, and change its core curriculum? If Ms. Aya wants to study blacks, there are colleges where she can do that.

Six history classes about western civilization and American history hardly qualify as psychological torture. This is a nation that was colonized by Europeans and forms the basis of our government. To forget history is to repeat it. In this case, a student is too pained to even learn it.

The coddled generation is a growing problem in our colleges and universities. A generation of spoiled brats wants to dictate to administrators what they should be taught. It’s playing out all over the country, and we are just at the beginning. We can only hope that Liberals who run our colleges and universities constantly figure out the error of their ways.

College is supposed to prepare young adults for the real world, a world full of all people, and yes, even white people. These students will be in for a rude awakening after graduation if they think they will be able change their job descriptions or choose their bosses.
