I’d believe more in a list sent to Santa Claus than the terror list touted by Obama’s Department of Homeland Insecurity.
This is the group that has 72 of its own employees on the terror list, and then didn’t have two Muslim terrorist who shot 14 Americans (mostly Christians) on the list at all.
But Obama wants us to believe that he’s fighting a war on terror. Sure he is, if the terrorists are patriotic, taxpaying Conservatives.
In his speech the other day, Obama conveniently gave the same strategy for fighting terror that he’s employed so far. The Losing Strategy. Nothing Obama said addressed making Americans safer from radical Islamic terrorism. His speech was just another political narrative for gun control, and a chance to try to blame Congress for his own incompetence.
Obama actually wants Americans to believe that the reason for the escalation in terrorism is Republicans not passing a law that would forbid people on the terrorist No Fly List from purchasing guns.
How much faith do you have a “no fly” list that is put together by DHS? Keep in mind that a Democrat Congressman from Massachusetts said that 95 percent of the people paid to thwart TSA got through, some with firearms strapped to their ankles.
The No Fly list was created following the terrorist attacks on 9/11, along with the Selectee List and the Terror Watchlist. Over time, these and other lists generated were eventually consolidated into the FBI Terror Watchlist. Since Obama took office, there has been an increased from 47,000 to 700,000.
It’s bad that Obama has grown terror dramatically, but there is another problem with this list, as Katie Pavlich points out:
“According to the technology website TechDirt.com, 40 percent of those on the FBI’s watch list — 280,000 people — are considered to have no affiliation with recognized terrorist groups. All it takes is for the government to declare is has “reasonable suspicion” that someone could be a terrorist. There is no hard evidence required, and the standard is notoriously vague and elastic.”
Over the years, many Americans have erroneously ended up on the No Fly List, including a 4-year old boy and former U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy. Innocent, law abiding citizens have ended up on these lists because they were misidentified.
In July of 2014, the Leftist Huffington Post ran an article featuring 7 ways you can end up on a Terrorist Watchlist:
1. You could raise “reasonable suspicion” that you’re involved in terrorism. “Irrefutable evidence or concrete facts” are not required.
2. You could post something on Facebook or Twitter that raises “reasonable suspicion.”
3. Or somebody else could just think you’re a potential terror threat.
4. You could be a little terrorist-ish, at least according to someone.
5. Or you could just know someone terrorist-y, maybe.
6. And if you’re in a “category” of people determined to be a threat, your threat status could be “upgraded” at the snap of a finger.
7. Finally, you could just be unlucky.
I think it’s safe to say that if you are Conservative, the probability of being on this list is exponentially greater than it is for a terrorists. Regardless, in a nutshell, this is how Obama will protect us from radical Islamic terrorism.
