If the protesters in Oregon were black, gay, Muslims, or illegals, you would see a very different headline than: “Armed occupation continues…”
What is the issue driving the peaceful protest in Oregon? Government overstepping its bounds. Eminent domain. The way government seizes private land, is many times for no reason.
Here is the way the story appeared later:
The activists, led by rancher Ammon Bundy, set themselves up in the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge 30 miles southeast of here, defying the organizers of a rally and march held Saturday in support of two local ranchers set to report to federal prison Monday to serve a sentence for arson.
Some of the occupiers said they planned to stay indefinitely. Harney County Sheriff David M. Ward said authorities from several law enforcement organizations were monitoring the situation.
“These men came to Harney County claiming to be part of militia groups supporting local ranchers,” Ward said in a statement Sunday. “When in reality these men had alternative motives, to attempt to overthrow the county and federal government in hopes to spark a movement across the United States.”
My basic understanding of this situation is a farmer burned part of “government land” for two reasons:

(1) to prevent additional fires, something that is absolutely necessary, and is done by agencies as a preventative measure.
(2) to prevent an invasive grass from overtaking his crop.
Sounds reasonable. For all we know, he asked for help from the government on both these issues, but that will be covered up or put very deep in the story. Because for the government, he committed arson. Perhaps. But I’m suspect, and here’s why.
First, the way the media has framed the activists, calling them “armed occupiers.” Other media referred to them as “militia.” Just to be clear, Oregon is a open carry state, so anybody with a license can carry a firearm. This means that everybody has the potential to be an “armed activist.” Or an armed dentist, an armed janitor, an armed mechanic.
Next, I just don’t trust the government, at least not the Obama version of it.
It’s become very clear in America, that the only people allowed to protest our emploiyees, aka the government, are real terrorist groups, and not honest taxpaying American citizens.
