HotMigrants has been set up as an Instagram account, and it implies exactly what it says: it’s an Instagram page for what the author deems to be hot migrants. No chance for “Ugly Migrants,” now is there?
While some see the desperation of people forced to leave a country, and others see the potential devastation these “migrants” bring in the form of rape culture, and so on, the founder of HotMigrants sees it differently:
I created this account after watching a video from the refugees and migrants who were stuck behind the border fence in Idomeni.
It’s a bit surreal to ‘objectify’ people who are fleeing war and broken countries… it is hard to overlook these people if you aren’t seeing them through their trek in Europe and it’s easy to dismiss them because the reality is far removed from you.
There is something to be said about finding comedy in such tragedy.
Comedy? I see nothing funny about it. In either of the aforementioned scenarios, there is nothing to find comedic or even “hot.”
Leave it to a Leftist to come up with a way to objectify refugees, and then likely capitalize on them.
