What Fatherhood Should Be Like in the Black Community (video)

When you think about the importance of a father in the life of a child, this video should come to mind. What this young man does is the essence of fatherhood.

We often hear of the absentee fathers in the black community, but this father is present and accounted for. Watch as he coaches his young daughter on her first day of school, and defines fatherhood.

From The Daily Mail:

In an inspirational video that appeared online this week, the father stands his daughter in front of a mirror before leaving this house, and has her recite some words of motivation that he has taught her.

The father starts the speech by saying to his daughter: ‘Look at yourself. Look in your eyes. You’ve got to see it. You’ve got to believe it.’

He then asks her: ‘You ready for school? Is it going to be a good day? Are you going to be positive?’

The doting dad then has his little girl repeat a bunch of uplifting phrases, including: ‘I am strong. I am smart. I work hard. I am beautiful. I am respectful.’

‘I am not better than anyone. Nobody is better than me. I am amazing. I am great.’

If you want to change America, let’s get more stories like this one out there.

Believe it or not, there are more black parents out there like this man, than there are the ones depicted by the media. This young man represents the “silent majority” within the black community.
