The selection of Mike Pence as running mate for then presidential hopeful Donald Trump seemingly came out of nowhere. Trump’s surrogates at the time were Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, and others, yet Pence ended up getting the nod.
The former Governor of Indiana undoubtedly helped Donald Trump become president-elect Donald Trump, as Pence balanced out the fly-by-wire approach of his boss.

Pence’s market cap certainly improved with the selection as Veep, and he became the front-runner in 2020, should President Trump decide to return to making billions and grabbing women by…well, you know.
The same is true even if Trump decides on two terms, God willing.
Pence will get a lesson in politics over the next 4-8 years that he would never have gotten under the tutelage of the Republican establishment. Pence leapfrogged Paul Ryan and essentially all of the Trump challengers of 2016, making him one of the biggest winners of 2016.
