President Trump has a record of picking competent people. So when Trump picks a woman, you can bet she is not a token, like Hillary Clinton.
There is no political capital exchanged, just the fact that the selected individual is competent.
One would think that leftists would be happy when Trump selects females. Trump’s validation empowers women selectees, as opposed to what an Obama selection intimated: total incompetence.
The very leftists who accuse Trump of not picking women, get upset when he does pick them. Ironically, it’s not Democrats who fought Trump’s nominee for Education Secretary, namely Betsy DeVos. It is in fact two RINO Republican senators, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska who say they will vote against confirmation.
I can hardly wait to see what’s in store for them for bucking President Trump. If you think Valerie Jarrett ran a tight ship, wait until you get a load of Steve Bannon.
President Trump is at it again with another female pick. And with this one, comes more controversy.
According to The Hill:
Senate Democrats and human rights activists are rallying against Donald Trump’s selection of an officer linked to the CIA’s controversial enhanced interrogation program to take the number-two seat at the agency.
As a clandestine officer, Gina Haspel oversaw the brutal interrogation of two terrorism suspects at a black site in Thailand — and then later played a role in the destruction of video tapes documenting the harsh treatment of the detainees, according to multiple reports.
In 2013, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) reportedly blocked her promotion to head the agency’s clandestine service over her role in the program.
For Republicans — and some former CIA officers — her promotion is a signal that Director Mike Pompeo is wisely prioritizing career officials as he attempts to boost morale after months of disparaging comments about the agency from President Trump. Haspel is a 30-year veteran with a weighty resume and a ringing list of testimonials from former intelligence officials.
Personally, I love that Haspel is unrelenting when it comes to interrogations. If there is a potential for a nuclear bomb killing thousands (or more) Americans, I want to know our CIA Director will do whatever it takes. Haspel sounds like she would.
This idiotic notion that the United States won’t do anything to protect its citizens is as outdated as Hillary Clinton’s wardrobe. Tell the world what they need to hear, but do what it takes to protect Americans.
So what Haspel allowed is waterboarding or used sleep deprivation. That’s freaking child’s play in the world of torture. I’m embarrassed the world witnesses us talking about these pansy-ass techniques as torture. It’s not a stretch to say that Muslim terrorists laugh at our notion of “torture.”
When the CIA starts putting terrorists’ heads on fence posts, we can begin the torture discussion.
But here’s the real hypocrisy.
You can bet that if Obama selected Haspel, the media and other leftists would sing her praises. They would be defending her actions, calling them “unsubstantiated.” Republicans would be accused of going on a witch hunt. Leftists would say absolutely nothing.
