Governor Sends Clear Message on Sanctuary Cities: Don’t Mess With Texas
Governor of Texas Gregg Abbott has tired of sanctuary cities bringing distress to Texas counties. And his actions proved.
He informed sheriffs of so-called sanctuary cities that they will be arrested if they don’t comply with America’s laws.
So, any sanctuary in Texas will be reserved for CITIZENS.
Cristina Laila reports on an interview the governor had on the Steve Malzberg show:
[During the show] Steve Malzberg: “I know you brought up the possibility of jailing such Sheriffs recently.”
Gregg Abbott: “We have. It’s a two-step process.
One, as Governor I could unilaterally use my office to take funds away from Travis County that had been previously granted to them under Governor’s grants for criminal justice reasons and we have defunded them to the tune of $1.5 million.
In addition to that, we have been pushing a piece of legislation in Texas that is going to pass that I will be signing into law that imposes even sterner penalties on counties. Uh it will include things such as further defunding them and it could impose jail time for the sheriffs to enforce the laws.
Oddly enough these sheriffs could wind up behind the very bars they are releasing these very criminals from.”
Looks like the Governor has a lot of support on this one!

Governor Abbott has a friend in Massachusetts:
Sheriff Hodgson wants all officials who aid illegals and obstruct justice to be arrested as well. Texas sanctuary cities are part of a national crisis where lawmakers justify breaking the law.
According to Hodgson,
“It’s completely unacceptable that any elected official would violate their oath and put the interests of criminal illegal aliens ahead of the public who elected [them] to fulfill [their] fundamental responsibilities in public office.”
Gregg Abbott clearly sees the importance of following immigration orders. Furthermore, as governor of a border state to Mexico, he knows first hand the damage illegal criminals do to our country.
Here’s a concept: lawmakers should never be lawbreakers. Abbott has fought the immigration battle all along and believes the courts should uphold banning sanctuary cities.
Abbot plays Trump card.
President Trump has threatened to cut funding from defiant cities.
So, Governor Abbott played the same card in Texas, cutting state funds from non-compliant cities.
“As governor, I simply will not allow (criminal justice) grant funding administered by this office to support law enforcement agencies that refuse to cooperate with a federal law enforcement program that is intended to keep dangerous criminals off Texas streets.”
As the saying goes, “Don’t Mess with Texas”.
