President Trump KICKS SPEAKER PAUL RYAN TO CURB
President Trump allowed Paul Ryan to fail. Republicans had over 7 years to come up with a plan for ObamaCare, and they blew it. Because that’s what RINOs do.
Now that President Trump has watched Ryan fail, he has begun working with a non-establishment Republican, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY).
The doctor, Senator, and former presidential candidate understands healthcare. More importantly, Rand Paul has a plan.
The real power in D.C. rests with those who know the Art of the Deal. And Rand Paul demonstrated in the recent GOP healthcare debacle that he’s learning from President Trump’s approach.
This weekend provided an opportunity for the two leaders to hone their deal-making skills at Trump National Golf Course. Founding member of the House Freedom Caucus and current White House budget director Mick Mulvaney joined Paul and Trump on the golf course. By the time their game concluded, Paul was “optimistic” that a better repeal plan will soon rise from Paul Ryan’s ashes.
“We had a great day with the president. We did talk about some health care reform. I think the sides are getting closer and closer together. And I remain very optimistic that we will get an Obamacare repeal.”
Paul remains a leading conservative critic of Ryan’s failed healthcare replacement plan, which the Kentucky senator dubbed “Obamacare Lite.”
“I commend @freedomcaucus for staying united against Obamacare Lite. Enough NO votes to stop bill and restart negotiations w/ conservatives.”
Instead, the Tea Party favorite has a bill of his own. We’ve dubbed it…FreedomCare. Paul’s plan goes much further than the Republican Establishment’s plan. The conservative’s bill will
Paul’s plan goes much further than the Republican establishment’s plan. The conservative’s bill will fully repeal and replace Obama’s lethargic 2010 law, which raised consumer costs at a staggering rate. Further, ObamaCare decreased choices.
Rand Paul’s bill brings the American people freedom from the government mandate and freedom to choose their own doctors, instead of more empty promises.
FreedomCare is better for America than Obamacare Lite would ever be.
After the golf game, Senator Paul tweeted:
“I had a great time today with @RealDonaldTrump and believe we are getting closer to an agreement on healthcare.
Trump showed Paul some Twitter love as well:
“Talks on Repealing and Replacing Obamacare are, and have been, going on, and will continue until such time as a deal is hopefully struck.”
“Anybody (especially Fake News media) who thinks that Repeal & Replace of Obamacare is dead does not know the love and strength in R Party!”
In the days since the House GOP leaders failed to bring their bill to a vote, President Trump criticized the Freedom Caucus for blocking the Republican agenda. Taking the fight to his “enemy,” Trump warned caucus Chairman Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) that payback for voting against the bill won’t be pretty.
But Rand Paul is a peacemaker. He taught the Art of the Deal to the Freedom Caucus in the run up to the House showdown over Ryancare. And then he met with Trump to pick up the pieces. Brokering a deal will take all hands on deck. And Paul leads that effort.
