Michael Brown’s Family Gets Settlement from Ferguson
Unfortunately, unlike the case of Freddie Gray, we don’t know the price tag for Michael Brown, Jr.
Did the Brown family hit the lotto in their settlement with the city of Ferguson? Who knows.
If they indeed got paid, one wonders if the lamestream media will see the irony of a city with 68 percent black people paying the freight for the death of a black thug.
According to The Washington Post,

The parents of Michael Brown, the unarmed black teen fatally shot by a Ferguson, Mo., police officer, settled a wrongful-death lawsuit with the city Tuesday, closing the civil case over a killing that stoked nationwide debate about African American deaths at the hands of law enforcement.
The settlement amount was not disclosed, but U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber of the Eastern District of Missouri said he was satisfied that the agreement was fair to the parties and compliant with the law.
“The gross settlement amount is fair and reasonable compensation for this wrongful death claim and is in the best interest of each Plaintiff,” Webber wrote. He added that it provided a reasonable amount for attorney fees and expenses, and said the split between Brown’s parents was proper.
The judge ordered the agreement sealed under Missouri’s Sunshine Law, saying Brown’s parents could be harmed if it were revealed to the public.
“Disclosure of the terms of the settlement agreement could jeopardize the safety of individuals involved in this matter, whether as witnesses, parties, or investigators,” he wrote.
An attorney for the parents declined to discuss the agreement Tuesday. Attorneys for the defendants did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
Why the secrecy on the settlement?
Perhaps the family doesn’t want the world to know the price of dead thugs has dropped?
And here I thought Obama taught people “transparency.”
The Gray family were certainly forthcoming. According to The Baltimore Sun, the Gray family hit the lotto and weren’t afraid to show it.
The terms of the settlement between Freddie Gray‘s family and the city reveal new details in the $6.4 million payout.
The nine-page agreement, obtained Wednesday by The Baltimore Sun, shows that Gray’s mother, Gloria Darden, will receive $5.36 million. Gray’s father, Freddie Gray Sr., will receive $640,000. The remainder, $400,000, will be paid to the “Estate of Freddie Gray Jr.”
The city agrees to pay $1.8 million within 15 days, to be divided proportionately among the parties, according to the document. Another $1 million must be paid by Nov. 1.
The remaining $3.6 million will be paid out in the next fiscal year.
To quote an old Curtis Mayfield song, “Freddie’s Dead,” and the family is living large.
I can only imagine what the mostly black citizens of Ferguson will say when their taxes go up.
Better yet, what about when they see the Brown family driving around in new Escalades or perhaps a Tesla.
Another irony surrounds former Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson. Anybody remember him?
He was the man exonerated for shooting a would-be cop killer, and lost his job. Is he looking for a payout?
I could find nothing on Darren Wilson suing anybody, though he certainly had cause. He could have sued the New Black Panthers, Al Sharpton, hell even the Fed.
Instead, the people responded. According to Bustle,
An anonymous woman who reportedly started three pro-Darren Wilson Facebook pages — “We Are Darren Wilson,” “I Support Officer Wilson” and “Support Darren Wilson” — told The Daily Mail that her backers have raised around $500,000 for the former police officer. However, this number was just a “conservative” estimate, she said. She added that when all is said and done, that number may easily jump into the seven figures.
Let’s hope Darren Wilson raised a solid 7-figures, and is enjoying life with his family.
