Seattle Gun and Ammo Taxes BACKFIRE BIG TIME

Leave it to leftists to try to fix a problem by changing something that has nothing to do with the problem.

Guns are not the problem, criminals, ergo leftists are. And obeying the law of unintended consequences, Seattle’s gun tax backfired.

As Fox News reports,

Setback for Seattle’s gun tax initiative as violence spikes

When the City of Seattle passed a tax on all sales of guns and ammunition, the measure was hailed as a way to defray the rising costs of gun violence.

But since the tax took effect, those costs have only risen as gun violence in the city has surged. And the tax has apparently brought in much less than city leaders projected it would.

“How much data do you need?” asked Dave Workman, senior editor of TheGunMag.com and member of the Second Amendment Foundation. “The data says the law has failed to prevent what they promised it would prevent.”

“The causes of gun violence are very complex,” Anderman (pro gun tax guy) said. “To say this one study is lacking because it hasn’t solved the problem of gun violence in Seattle is, frankly, laughable.”

My friend Dave Perkins chimed in on the discussion.

You don’t need a study to know that dealers, gangstas, repeat felons and other bad guys cons don’t buy their guns at Bass Pro Shops. Further, you don’t reduce gun crime by preventing law abiding citizens from being able to defend themselves, you INCREASE it.

Lefty liars strike again. What has happened is what they wanted — gun shops closing and moving out of town.

They don’t really give a crap about actual gun crime. You can tell because leftists use the term “gun violence” instead, an ambiguous term which includes all use of firearms, including legitimate self defense. Which, btw, is what they actually WANT to stop.

Bottom line?

Hard for government to control your life when you are able to conduct an uprising against it anytime you believe it’s controlling too much of your life.

For example, in Russia, post USSR, citizens are now allowed to have pistols, shotguns, etc. The only guns still banned? Rifles. The guns needed most to fight the government.

They reveal in their laws what it is they really fear. The same is true in America.

Remember how hard the Left has fought against “assault rifles” even though they’re almost never used in gun crimes. If they wanted to reduce gun violence, they’d go right at pistols. But they don’t.

Lefty cities are actually kind of pitiful, trying things like taxation to stifle gun sales. Even in Leftist Utopia of Seattle they can’t just ban firearms or implement a “lockup law.” Because these tactics would be so unpopular (and now that I think about it, probably against Heller).

But this story does offer an example of what happens when they get their way.

imagine a NATION with vastly reduced gun sales, vastly fewer armed citizens. The crime wave unleashed might be, in terms of value robbed and people shot, the largest increase in crime in the history of the world.

A nation turned into south side Chicago.

Need I say more?

Seattle can’t pay for the study, the taxes raised were so low. Moreover, the law had the opposite effect and actually increased crime. 

Think these leftists learned their lesson?

Think again.

The Second Amendment shouldn’t be infringed. What part of this do leftists not understand? Yet, they continually attempt to nullify the Constitution with meaningless laws.

Seattle should be forced to repeal this law immediately.
