JUST SAY NO: Why Kid Rock Shouldn’t Run for Senate

Although rocker Kid Rock’s announcement that he’s running for Senate was met with skepticism, he is serious.

Personally, I’d love to see him win. Yes, I’m a fan of his logic. Sadly, most conservatives hope he changes his mind, and I understand the reasoning. More on this in a bit.

For now, Kid Rock is poised to take on the Michigan Democrat Senator Debbie Stabenow in the upcoming mid-term election. And recently he tweeted a preview to his platform.

LET THERE BE ROCK! KID ROCK!

Ok, only joking. But here’s what “Kid” (that’s what I call him) actually tweeted.

An “A” for simple marketing. Apparently Kid has learned from Trump.

And like Trump, people are indeed taking Kid seriously. As Billboard Magazine reports:

“It’s not a hoax, it’s a strategy and marketing 101!”

That’s what Kid Rock is claiming on his website after his announcement Wednesday that he was running for Senate was met with some skepticism.

The hoax questions came from his Kid Rock for Senate site, which redirects to a Warner Bros. Records page when you click on any merchandise for sale, leading many to wonder whether the Senate run was actually just a promotional stunt for Rock’s new music.

In a new blog post, titled “Once Again the Press Is Wrong,” Kid Rock addressed the backlash. “I’ve got 15 days from my announcement to file paperwork with the FEC! Second, I’m not signed to Warner Bros!!! – which simple fact-checking would have revealed,” he wrote. “I have recently worked out a unique deal with BMG, Broken Bow, CAA and Live Nation to release music ON MY TERMS. Like politicians write books during their campaigns, I’m planning on putting out music during mine and IT ALL STARTS TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT.”

As it turns out, Kid Rock completed his deal with Warner Music Group when he released his latest album, 2015’s First Kiss. But, according to a rep for Rock, WMG remains his merchandise company, hence the redirected website.

Liberals are Running Scared

Senator Stabenow is obviously concerned about her chances against Kid Rock. She sent out a fundraising email Wednesday. “We don’t know if this is real or just a publicity stunt,” the email read. “But after Donald Trump’s surprising win last year, we need to act fast.” Then Stabenow tweeted her thoughts on a Kid Rock campaign.

Billboard noted Kid Rock’s reply:

“Senator Stabenow and I do share a love of music, although probably not the same kind. I concede she is better at playing politics than I am so I’ll keep doing what I do best, which is being a voice for tax paying, hardworking AMERICANS and letting politicians like her know that We the People are sick and tired of their bullshit!”

So now why Kid Rock shouldn’t run.

The man is POWERFUL to the conservative movement. Why water that down by becoming a lowly senator?

Ask yourself this question, “Would you rather meet your senator or KID ROCK?”

Here’s another one for you. You’re throwing a party and you can invite your senator or KID ROCK?

I rest my case!

Kid Rock impacts conservatism much more as a rocker. As a Senator, he will find out the job is not music to his ears. And let’s face it, Kid is no politician, nor is he the dragonslayer that Trump is.

If he does decide to run, Kid will find out that the hangers-on who promise to help and donate only wanted their photo ops. I hope the man sticks to what he does best. He shows the entertainment community there is a safe space with conservatives.
