Is Breitbart Planning Rival Network to FOX News?

Despite what people think, FOX News is not “conservative”.

FOX News has benefited from the label, and dominated cable news. However, the list of Lefties at Fox is as long as a polish man’s last name.

Megyn Kelly was outed as a Leftist, and now finds herself on another network destined for failure. I know of others at Fox who are solidly Leftists, though they hide in plain sight. So it’s not wonder the plot thickens on a rival network.

Axios reports:

Axios’ Jonathan Swan hears Bannon has told friends he sees a massive opening to the right of Fox News, raising the possibility that he’s going to start a network.

  • Bannon’s friends are speculating about whether it will be a standalone TV network, or online streaming only.

  • Before his death in May, Roger Ailes had sent word to Bannon that he wanted to start a channel together. Bannon loved the idea: He believes Fox is heading in a squishy, globalist direction as the Murdoch sons assume more power.

  • Now he has the means, motive and opportunity: His chief financial backer, Long Island hedge fund billionaire Bob Mercer, is ready to invest big in what’s coming next, including a huge overseas expansion of Breitbart News.

When you consider the meteoric rise of Breitbart, why should they not consider their options?

I suspect their online presence rivals Fox News. And frankly, online will soon overtake network views in TV. If they’ve played their cards right, they could come out of the blocks with a dominant presence in TV.

Prior to Ailes’ death, there was speculation that he and others exiled from Fox News might make a play. Axios continues

Before Roger Ailes’ death on May 18, he expressed a final wish to some of his few remaining confidants: to get back in the game, with a conservative network that would position itself to the right of Fox News, as his baby became more moderate under the next generation of Murdoch leadership.

In his final days, Ailes sent a message to Steve Bannon in the White House that he’d love to team up on a new conservative media powerhouse.

What we hear: Bannon, who otherwise would have been intrigued by the notion, had no desire to leave the White House. So Ailes’ last big idea remained just that.

Conservative competitors to Fox News is not a new concept. Glenn Beck continues his experiment with The Blaze TV. Beck’s concept was good, but execution has been iffy at best.

Next, a group of Conservatives started a new Blaze-like subscription-based TV outlet. Michelle Malkin, Mark Levin, and others try to make a go of that. I’m not sure of the success to date, however the site certainly has potential.

Will a serious competitor emerge? My bet is yes. But it will take Conservatives teaming together, and not splintering, as Conservatives are known to do. In the meantime, don’t expect Fox News to rest on its laurels. Fox’s executive team understands programming, and they will rise to the occasion.

Cable news TV will undergo a major overhaul over the next couple of years. In fact, the overhaul has begun. But it will take more than just talking heads to engender the next paradigm.

One thing is certain. Conservative audiences thirst for a truly Conservative network. That is to say people want truth in reporting. Fox prided itself on being fair and balanced. However, in presenting the Left’s viewpoint, there is nothing fair. The Left are idiots. They believe weather is global climate change, that trespassers should be citizens, that terrorists only need jobs, and the answer to all our problems is to bombard them with money.

Leftists rarely want to actually solve problems, and mostly create more problems. They thrive on chaos, which is why they foster it wherever they go.

Consider the Trump rallies, and the level of security needed. Antifa, Black Lives Matter and other paid goons await hardworking, taxpaying Americans at every event, as the goons look to cause trouble. Meanwhile, Leftists pretend to be tolerant and peace-loving.

America wants truth. And there is no media outlet allowing the truth to come out. We discuss the same problems, in the same manner. Little gets resolved. Thus America’s thirst goes unquenched.

Whoever fills that void will be the winner. Perhaps more than one winner will emerge. A serious competitor would be good for Fox. Steel sharpens steel as they say.

I’d like to see at least two dominant Conservative media outlets. It’s certainly possible. And if Donald Trump decides to help one of them, you can bet Fox News as well as pure Leftist media outlets will be left scrambling.
