Free Speech: How Quickly Leftists forget
Leftists are all for free speech when it suits their narrative. So when Kaepernick took a knee in protest of so called “mistreatment of blacks in America,” Leftists celebrated.
Then, when President Trump rightly called this moron out on his insult to the country, our symbols of freedom, our veterans, and our citizens, the Left was quick to rally around Kaepernick. However, these very same Leftists scoff at the idea of kneeling in prayer.
News Busters notes the hypocrisy:
In 2015, NBC’s Matt Lauer called Tebow “one of the most popular and polarizing quarterbacks in NFL history.” But that’s just some of the nicer things the media has aimed at Tebow for daring to flaunt his Christianity on a public platform.
In 2012, the always classy Chelsea Handler said that if she dated Tebow, it would be “reverse rape.” CBSChicago.com called Tebow “little more than an affable simpleton” earlier that same year. And when the New York Jets hired Tebow, Nation sports editor Dave Zirin accused them of “moving backwards 30 or 40 years” because LGBT fans didn’t like Tebow.
They ridiculed Tim Tebow, essentially labeling him a kook for being in God. But for Kaepernick, these clowns protest for him to get a job in the NFL. And Tebow isn’t the only example.
Remember the high school football coach in Washington under fire for silently praying after a football game.
Fox News reported on the incident:
“A Washington state high school football coach who was punished for taking a knee at the 50-yard line for a post-game prayer violated the U.S. Constitution, according to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
“When Kennedy kneeled and prayed on the fifty-yard line immediately after games while in view of students and parents, he spoke as a public employee, not as a private citizen, and his speech therefore was constitutionally unprotected,” the 9th Circuit wrote.
To be fair – it’s not like Coach Kennedy was conducting a Billy Graham Crusade at midfield. He would simply take a knee, bow his head, thank God for a good game and 30 seconds later – he went about his business.”
And now the Leftist judges at the 9th circuit plan on banning all coaches from displaying any religious behaviors from now on.
First Liberty Institute attorney Jeremy Dys said:
“Now all coaches across the country stand under the prospect of being prevented from engaging in any outward displays of religion,” Dys told me. “That includes crossing yourself or even taking a knee to pray.”
Coach Kennedy is not backing down and has chosen to fight for the right to pray silently after his football games. He told the Daily Signal:
“I just want the ability to go back out there and help these young men, and also have my constitutional rights that I fought for in the Marine Corps for 20 years,” Kennedy said in a telephone interview with The Daily Signal. “That’s it—it’s pretty simple.”
Leftist Hypocrisy
Call your protest “racial unification”, and Leftist fully support your anti-American displays. It’s really that simple. Colin Kaepernick protested on a lie, pure and simple. Black Lives Matter is a movement based on false data, and quite frankly is laughable for those willing to look objectively at the numbers. But the Left loves its false narratives. So, Kaepernick represents the lie that America oppresses blacks. Thus, we should all disregard all evidence to the contrary.
This coach on the other hand oppresses nobody with his kneeling. By the way, teams have kneeled to God for decades with not a word. Coaches and players alike thankful for an injury-free game, and acknowledgement of their place in the universe compared to a higher power. The Left consider this act sanctimonious.
In truth, Leftists are jealous of Christians. These heathens know the peace that comes from the belief in something real. Look at their failures. Leftism, socialism, and their biggest to date: Obama.
No one denies that these spoiled NFL players have the right to voice their own opinions. However, Americans take issue with the manner at which they’re choosing to do so. And while we give honor to our flag and to the men and women who have died for the country, a protest showcases complete disdain.
Free speech is a hallmark of the American Experiment, and one Americans take quite seriously. Liberals and Progressives apparently believe wrongly that free speech doesn’t apply to Christians.
One must ask why Leftists so want to silence the voices of those who believe in something greater than themselves. It is not Christians who fill our jails and who make our cities almost uninhabitable.
