Look who’s trying to take credit for Trump defeating ISIS

As President Trump continues his march over the Obama legacy, the Left scramble to save it.

Obamas latest embarrassment? President Trump’s takedown of ISIS.

In a recent interview with CNN Obama’s Secretary of Defense, Ash Carter, tried to spin the surrendering of ISIS as Obama’s doing.

CARTER: “Well, the plan has been — was laid out two years ago. And has been executed pretty much in the manner and on the schedule that was foreseen then. And, again, the credit goes to, first and foremost, our military for carrying that out. I was always looking for ways to accelerate it. Joe Dunford, the chairman and I were doing that. As we did that, we always got the approval of our president, President Obama at that time, who understood where we were going and wanted to get there also. And I can’t speak for the new administration and the new team, but I can well imagine that if my successor, Jim Mattis, had ways of moving things along, that he would have recommended them as well.

But the outcome here was one that we knew we had to achieve, as I said two years ago, and the basic plan was to put together an army north of up where your correspondent is, north of Raqqa. Train them, equip them and then bring the awesome might of the American military to bear in enabling them. That took some time, which is why — but at the same time moving up the Tigris valley to Mosul, which was the other principal city that needed to be taken.”

Nice try Carter!

Obama’s military plan allowed the Taliban to gain more territory. This is because Obama prohibited our military from getting in front of the problem.

According to Breitbart:

“Obama only allowed U.S. troops to respond to the Taliban in a defensive, reactive kind of manner, rather than offensively — ordering them to wait for a situation to develop rather than getting in front of it.

The former president took away the U.S. military’s authority to offensively attack the Afghan Taliban after he declared the U.S. combat mission in Afghanistan over at the end of 2014.”

During the Era of Obama, the rules of engagement essentially made eunuchs of the military.

But president Trump changed the rules.

America’s new Commander in Chief brought common sense to the military. Now, they actually get to confront and engage the enemy.

The Daily Caller reports General Mattis’ latest announcement about the military in Afghanistan:

“Secretary of Defense James Mattis has changed the rules of engagement in Afghanistan, in effect unleashing troops to fire on the Taliban without first having to be in physical contact.

Mattis said Tuesday at hearings before the House and Senate that the White House had given him new authority to change the rules of engagement, which he has already made use of by letting U.S. troops fire on the Taliban regardless of physical proximity, Military Times reports.

Such a change is not entirely unexpected, as President Donald Trump said in an Aug. 21 speech that he would “expand authorities” for U.S. troops in the region, though at the time he didn’t elaborate on what precisely that would look like.

“We will also expand authorities for American armed forces to target the terrorists and criminal networks that sow violence and chaos throughout Afghanistan,” Trump said during a speech.

Uncanny how America wins when we’re allowed to fight.

We reported recently that ISIS is dramatically shrinking.

“For approximately three weeks, the coalition launched 52 airstrikes to help shape the battlefield and force ISIS into a position from which they would fall. The importance of this tactical move is epic, as ISIS relinquished the territory. They’ve been downgraded to a terrorist insurgency. Their eventual defeat is all but guaranteed.

More than 1,000 ISIS fighters surrendered to the coalition. Because of this victory, the military estimates that over four million Iraqis were liberated and approximately 16,000 square miles were freed.”

Ash Carter certainly isn’t living on muscle-memory, as Obama emboldened ISIS.

As with all things involving this economy, President Trump owns it. And that’s why things are finally working again.

Obama couldn’t even get NATO to pay its bills. Though Leftists proposed that Donald Trump was trying to scuttle NATO, that wasn’t the case. Like a good leader, he put NATO on notice that they needed to cover their part of the fee. America was no longer willing to tote the note.

Obama’s strategy of “duck and run” belies the reason America faced many more threats and future threats. Thankfully, the world knows again that America is a super power, and we will protect ourselves and our allies.
