World Health Organization: Offers Role of Goodwill Ambassador to African Dictator
Leftists are not just crazy in America. They are just as looney worldwide.
Recently the Director General of the World Health Organization appointed Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe as a goodwill ambassador. Most of the world knows Mugabe as a brutal dictator; the farthest thing from a goodwill ambassador.
BBC wrote of Mugabe in 2003:
Opposition groups in Zimbabwe say that government security forces have arrested and beaten hundreds of people following last week’s widely observed general strike.
Amnesty International says that up to 500 people have been detained in “a new and dangerous phase of repression”.
Following the strike, President Robert Mugabe warned the opposition Movement for Democratic Change not to instigate violence, saying: “Those who play with fire will not only be burnt but consumed.”
What a man to make a goodwill ambassador!
As The Guardian reports,
The World Health Organization has removed the Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe, as a goodwill ambassador following outrage among donors and rights groups at his appointment.
The WHO’s director general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who made the appointment at a high-level meeting on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Uruguay on Wednesday, said in a statement that he had listened to those expressing concerns.
“Over the last few days, I have reflected on my appointment of His Excellency President Robert Mugabe as WHO goodwill ambassador for NCDs in Africa. As a result I have decided to rescind the appointment,” Tedros said in a statement posted on his Twitter account @DrTedros.
The WHO boss had faced mounting pressure to reverse the decision, including from some of the leading voices in global public health.

Mugabe can’t feel too bad, as he’s received a peace prize for the brutal rule of his people.
Despite a notoriously ruthless 28-year run as president of Zimbabwe—rife with the jailing and torturing of political dissidents—Robert Mugabe can claim a peace prize to his name. The dictator is the 2015 recipient of the Confucius Peace Prize—China’s answer to the Nobel Peace Prize. According to a Thursday statement from the Chinese judging committee, Mugabe “has been trying to stabilize the country’s political and economic order ever since the country was first founded,” and is therefore deserving of the award. Other totally beneficient leaders to win the prize include Cuban leader Fidel Castro (2014) and Vladimir Putin (2011).
I’m shocked to learn that Obama never received this distinction.
The fact that the WHO even offered a distinction to a man like Mugabe, shows just how crazy Leftists have made the world. But I’m sure many feel the distinction offer Mugabe is no less crazy than Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize.
Understandably, it seems the era of the African dictators has not ended.
