I have four sons, and luckily none of them were ever seriously injured or sick.
That’s a fear for almost all parents, and this family experienced that fear.
This 8-year-old girl suffered an aneurysm this week, and her mother visits her in the hospital. As her mother speaks to her, the little girl responds to her mother’s voice.

What a Thanksgiving!
To know that though her little girl isn’t there physically, she’s there otherwise. To get that validation obviously warmed the heart of her mother, and you can hear it in her voice.
As we contemplate all that happens around us, it’s moments like this that remind us of the important things in life.
This little girl and her mother are why we fight.
As you celebrate Thanksgiving today with family and friends, remember what’s important. Understand that even in our times of strife, we must find reasons to be thankful. Below are a few quotes that may help you remember what’s important:
Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. William Arthur Ward
There is one day that is ours. Thanksgiving Day is the one day that is purely American. O. Henry
And who could go a Thanksgiving without honoring our military?
We’re getting ready to sit down at the table and have Thanksgiving, and there’s people that are not with their families. There are people that are in dangerous areas, putting their lives on the line to keep our country free, and I think that’s something we should all celebrate every day. Guy Fieri
Thanksgiving is about honoring God for his blessings.
I think that is a better thing than thanksgiving: thanks-living. How is this to be done? By a general cheerfulness of manner, by an obedience to the command of Him by whose mercy we live, by a perpetual, constant delighting of ourselves in the Lord, and by a submission of our desires to His will.Charles SpurgeonThanksgiving is a time when the world gets to see just how blessed and how workable the Christian system is. The emphasis is not on giving or buying, but on being thankful and expressing that appreciation to God and to one another. John Clayton
And what of family and friends…
What I love about Thanksgiving is that it’s purely about getting together with friends or family and enjoying food. It’s really for everybody, and it doesn’t matter where you’re from. Daniel Humm
There is no racial or ethnic involvement in Thanksgiving, and people who may be very distant from the Christian system can see the beauty and the positive spirit that comes from the holiday. John Clayton
