RACIST LANDSCAPING: Left’s new social cause
The left has set their sights on their new social cause. Apparently landscaping can be racist.
Thus, a predominantly black neighborhood now demands that trees be cut down. It seems these trees were planted for racial reason, according to the black residents.
“Residents of a black neighborhood in Palm Springs, California, are celebrating the decision to cut down the “racist trees” and eliminate a chainlink fence that acted as a barrier between their streets from a city-owned golf course.
Trending: McCabe NOT Indicted But Wait!
At an informal meeting with neighborhood residents Sunday, Palm Springs Mayor Robert Moon, council member J.R. Roberts and other city officials promised residents they would remove the tamarisk trees and a chain link fence along the Crossley Tract property lines as soon as possible.
Many longtime residents of the neighborhood previously told the (Palm Springs, Calif.) Desert Sun they believed the trees were planted for racist reasons in the 1960s, and remained a lasting remnant of the history of segregation in the city. Residents said the invasive tamarisks, which block views of the Tahquitz Creek Golf Course and San Jacinto mountains, have artificially depressed property values and prevented black families from accumulating wealth in their property over the past half century.”
Despite Tiger Woods, golf is a “white” sport, and don’t you forget it.
In case you didn’t catch it, the residents aren’t sure if the trees were planted to keep golfers from looking at the black residents. However, not seeing the black community could be the cause, thus the trees must go.
To add to the ridiculousness of this neighborhood’s claim comes the cost. The price tags stands at $170,000 to remove the “racist” trees.
But what of the trees? Where are the “greenies” who would protect the trees? And for the record, do we know if these trees are white or black? Surely at least one of the trees claims “Dolezal” and demands not to be cut down?
For the sake of discussion, let’s say all the trees are “white”. Do these trees come to live at night whispering for blacks to leave (pardon the pun)?
As you can see, there are many questions revolving around this subject.
Blacks apparently lived in this neighborhood for some time before complaining. I doubt there had been much inquiry on this issue until recently. So who complained? Was it the same people demanding that statues be removed?
From statues to trees
Believe it or not, the person responsible for creating opportunities in this black neighborhood and the city was a man named Lawrence Crossly.
Crossly, a successful black businessman built resorts and golf courses that catered to black communities in the 1930s-1950s.
Crossley, an African-American Palm Springs developer who came to Palm Springs in the late 1920s from New Orleans, is perhaps best known as the designer for a golf course at the El Mirador Hotel, one of the first of the grand resorts to open in the Coachella Valley since it opened on New Year’s Eve in 1927. (The hotel closed in 1973 and is now the site of the Desert Regional Medical Center.)
Crossley would go on to invest in a restaurant, laundromat, a tea and cosmetics company, and a housing development mainly marketed to members of the African-American and Mexican-American communities.
Mind you, Crossly achieved all this in a time of extreme racial tension and segregation.
How ironic it happens that Crossly’s creation could be taken down due to ignorance among blacks.
Essentially, blacks in this neighborhood tear down a monument to a man who brought something nice to blacks. They are no different than their counterparts who believe that removing history changes things.
We previously reported their efforts:
“In a sacrilege of American legacy, the Antifa has been on their own jihad for the last several months as they target memorials, tombs, and statues from America’s past. Their current objective is to desecrate the memorials to the Confederacy during the Civil War era.
In cities and towns across the Southeastern ‘red-states’ of the Bible-belt: St. Louis, Orlando, New Orleans, Columbus GA, Memphis TN, Charlottesville VA, the former Confederate capitol Richmond, and as far west as Arizona; centuries old monuments of the Civil War are falling.”
So after Leftists tear down trees, what’s next? Who knows, because everything offends Leftists.
