FBI Officials Clear Republican FISA Memo as Factually Correct
What’s the next excuse for the Democrats, now that the FBI has responded to the facts of the so-called Republican memo?
Democrats will have a hard time getting around this latest development.
As reported by Fox News:
Two senior FBI officials have now reviewed a controversial Republican staff memo alleging abuses of government surveillance programs during the 2016 presidential campaign, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News – adding that the officials “could not point to any factual inaccuracies.”
The House Intelligence Committee voted late Monday along party lines to release the memo, prompting a backlash from Democratic lawmakers. Top Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff called it a “very sad day.” President Trump has five working days to review the contents but is widely expected not to block its release.
After the contentious committee vote Monday night, the source confirmed that House staffers physically took the memo over to the White House for the president.
We reported on the Hail, Mary being thrown by Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee who have called for an emergency meeting. That likely won’t happen.
But what does this latest revelation say about Adam Schiff’s contention that the FISA memo was altered?
As the Fox News article continues,
The FBI offered no comment to Fox News regarding bureau officials’ review of the document. Senior DOJ officials told Fox News after this story first posted, however, that they “dispute the characterization” that no inaccuracies could be cited.
That’s not what Schiff said. CNN reported,
In a letter to Nunes, Schiff said that his staff discovered Wednesday evening that the memo sent to the White House was “materially different” than the version on which the committee voted.
The White House is currently reviewing the four-page classified memo after the committee voted on Monday night to make it public.
“It is now imperative that the Committee Majority immediately withdraw the document that it sent to the White House,” Schiff wrote. “If the Majority remains intent on releasing its document to the public, despite repeated warnings from DOJ and the FBI, it must hold a new vote to release to the public its modified document.”
A spokesman for Nunes responded to Schiff’s letter by calling it an “increasingly strange attempt to thwart publication of the memo,” saying changes were made that were “minor edits to the memo, including grammatical fixes and two edits requested by the FBI and by the Minority themselves.”
I have tried to think of any other possible options for the Democrats, but only one comes to mind: TELL THE TRUTH!
As I watch these clowns scramble to cover their asses, I chuckle at how they so avoid the obvious option of admitting their wrong doing. But as I’ve learned in my 9 years as a political pundit, Democrats rarely admit their guilt.
When this melodrama of political history ends, Democrats will lie in tatters.
