President Trump Cuts Off TERROR FUNDING Network
In another move to dismantle the Obama legacy, President Trump attacked Muslim groups funding terror.
As Reuters reports,
The Trump administration attacked Hezbollah’s financial network on Friday by imposing sanctions on six people and seven entities in an effort to turn back Iran’s influence in the Middle East and beyond.
“The administration is determined to expose and disrupt Hezbollah’s networks, including those across the Middle East and West Africa, used to fund their illicit operations,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in announcing the penalties under financial regulations targeting the Lebanon-based Hezbollah militant group.take our poll - story continues below
The six sanctioned individuals included five Lebanese and one Iraqi, most of them linked to Al-Inmaa Engineering and Contracting, the Treasury Department said. The seven entities were firms based in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Lebanon and Ghana, the statement said.
Senior Trump administration officials said the sanctions were part of an aggressive move against Hezbollah to try to limit the influence of Iran, which gives the group about $700 million a year to help finance its activities.
The officials, briefing reporters at the White House on condition of anonymity, said the Trump administration was working to reverse what it considers a more lackadaisical approach toward Hezbollah by Democratic President Barack Obama after the 2015 Iran nuclear deal went into effect.
More such targeted sanctions are expected in the months ahead, they said.
Yet again President Trump proves that he knows how to fight wars.
Though he indeed lives up to his campaign promise to “bomb the sh*t out of ISIS”, Trump’s long-range plan proves more hurtful. He hits terrorists in the pocketbook.
By freezing assets, Trump makes financing terror much more difficult. But calling out companies who work with terrorists is where the real sweet spot is.
The article continues,
The officials said Hezbollah was already under financial strain as it continued to pay for costly operations in Syria and Yemen. The goal was to get European allies to join the United States in increasing pressure on the group, they said.
As a result of the Treasury designations, all their assets subject to U.S. jurisdiction are blocked and Americans are prohibited from engaging in transactions with them.
The six individuals were targeted because they are linked to financier Adham Tabaja and his company, Al-Inmaa Engineering and Contracting. The officials described Tabaja as among the top five Hezbollah financiers at the moment.
As The Daily Caller reported, the president did the same thing to terrorists involved in human trafficking.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order on December 21, 2017 which blocks the property and assets of persons involved in serious human rights abuses and corruption. To date, the president’s order is the most consequential and far reaching legislation to help prevent and hopefully put an end to human trafficking in the United States.
Since the signing of the 2000 Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), a federal legislation passed during President Bill Clinton’s administration that aims to prosecute human traffickers and protect victims, no other president has put into place such a significant piece of legislation protecting children’s rights and imposing financial damages on human rights abusers.
When President Trump first entered the White House, he vowed to help end human trafficking.
These are very simple steps to stop bad behaviors. Amazingly, Obama did little to stop either.
In fact, most people believe that Obama made things much easier for terrorists of both sorts.
Recall Obama sent billions of dollars to Iran in the dark of night. The largest sponsor of terror in the world, and Obama actually financed them.
As CNN reported,
The Obama administration secretly arranged a plane delivery of $400 million in cash on the same day Iran released four American prisoners and formally implemented the nuclear deal, US officials confirmed Wednesday.
President Barack Obama approved the $400 million transfer, which he had announced in January as part of the Iran nuclear deal. The money was flown into Iran on wooden pallets stacked with Swiss francs, euros and other currencies as the first installment of a $1.7 billion settlement resolving claims at an international tribunal at The Hague over a failed arms deal under the time of the Shah.
I’d love to see President Trump look into this scandalous act. The world may find out that Obama, not Iran, was the biggest sponsor of terror in the world.
One thing is for sure. Under President Trump, the terror gravy train ended. Countries condoning terror and not working with the United States will no longer get our support. Trump’s tough stance on terror will undoubtedly make the world a safer place.
