Trump invites Kaepernick to WH Race Summit: Bad Move?
Kaepernick may have one last shot in the NFL. And that’s if he’s willing to kiss the ring.
Donald Trump has been touched by God. So, anything the Left tries on him bounces back 10-fold on the Left.
Look at the road littered with Leftist carcasses: Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, the media, the FBI, a host of Hollyweirdos, and the NFL.
But as we’ve learned, President Trump is not vindictive. After giving smackdowns of Republicans in the primaries, he loaded his staff with the vanquished. Next, he tried to forgive the transgressions of Hillary Clinton. More recently, after the verbal brawl between Kim Jong-Un, we now see the two men ready to have talks on denuclearization, and other things many Leftists thought were impossible.
Now President Trump has decided to weigh in on race relations.
According to People,
President Donald Trump has given the green light to multiple meetings with athletes and musical artists to discuss race, Cleveland-based pastor Darrell Scott, an outside adviser to the White House adviser, tells PEOPLE.
“He is 100 percent for it,” says Scott, who spoke with Trump for about 20 minutes in the Oval Office following an outdoor ceremony at the White House for Thursday’s National Day of Prayer. “He was very enthusiastic about it.”
Kanye West, who recently had a Twitter love-fest with Trump, has been invited, says Scott, along with former NFL star Colin Kaepernick and other athletes and musicians of multiple races and ethnicities.
“It’s not going to be a black-only event,” says Scott. “It will be a melting pot.”
I’m guessing this wasn’t President Trump’s idea. Nevertheless, I have no doubt he immediately agreed to the summit.
Many might initially have asked, “Why invite race-baiter Kaepernick to the White House?” The thought being that an invitation to the White House constitutes a win for Kaepernick. But does it?
But what Trump’s invitation does show is that he is willing to discuss race, to put the subject front and center. And that’s good for America. Because when Trump puts issues front and center, things happen.
Look at illegal immigration. This topic was the linchpin of his campaign.
Trump went from pariah on this topic to the champion of DACA. He has practically stolen the illegal immigration narrative from the Left, while still serving the best interests of America. I predict the same would happen in this race summit.
The Kanye Effect
This summit appears to be the brainchild of Pastor Darnell Scott. As the article continues, the Kanye effect certainly offered some inspiration.
While details of the meetings will be ironed out next week, it’s expected that there be a musicians’ summit followed by a gathering of athletes in the early summer—with both held at the White House, says Scott. The idea had been on the drawing board “for quite some time now” and got a boost following last week’s Trump-West Twitter exchange, the pastor adds.
Scott expects Trump will be in attendance. “We don’t want to sanitize it. I want people from the left to attend. I want it to get heated but I want it to be respectful,” says Scott.
“I want them to see and know the Donald Trump I know and they will say, ‘This guy isn’t who I’ve been lead to believe he is.’”
I’m curious to see how this turns out.
For Kaepernick, accepting this invitation and learning from Trump may be his only chance to get back to the NFL. And if he’s smart, he will take the olive branch and just play the game.
If Kaepernick declines, his career is over and Trump wins. Kaepernick may try to claim a “moral” victory–the only kind the Democrats seem to win these days. But in the end, many blacks will see that President Trump was more than willing to hear the man out.
Woe for the Democrats
But Kanye will likely show up. And that would bring a lot of hoopla, as the media for the event would be tremendous. Unlike Obama bringing in black entertainers for “Step-n-Fetchit” acts, Trump’s event would be meaningful.
Black people will watch and absorb. That won’t be good for the Democrats.
A discussion of the lowest black unemployment in history, coupled with Kanye’s “free thinking” message. I suspect the president will roll out some initiative to help the black community, and the project will be supported mostly by the private sector.
Regardless of the outcome, one thing is for sure. Each day, President Trump confounds the Left. He has them busier than a whore at a brothel on nickel night, as he continues to dazzle despite the Left’s attempts to disrupt. However, as more news comes out about their corruption, the Left will find themselves even more marginalized. And that’s when Trump reintroduces America to herself.
