Trump Showdown: Would You Do That?

Clearly, running the United States isn’t about making everyone happy. It’s about putting plans in place that protect and prosper the nation.

If the shutdown continues past Saturday, it will be the longest government shutdown in history. Any lesser president would’ve already caved.

But Trump remains steadfast, dedicated to keeping his campaign promises. His advice? Buckle up and get ready because this shutdown is one for the record books.

Ironically, many democrats claim to care about border security. In fact, Cabot Phillips of Campus Reform recently visited students at American University in an effort to highlight the border bias. Meanwhile, leftists hope their liberal prodigies can’t see the forest for the trees.

As Fox News tells it:

Students at American University reacted unfavorably to calls for increased border security to stem the flow of illegal immigrants, expressing shock that prominent Democrats have agreed with the idea in the past.

Campus Reform’s Cabot Phillips visited the university’s Washington, D.C. campus amid the ongoing border funding battle and partial government shutdown.

He presented students with several quotes that sounded a lot like President Trump’s speeches, but actually came from then-Senator Barack Obama, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Hillary Clinton — including:

“Illegal Immigration is wrong, plain and simple. Until the American people are convinced we will stop future flows of illegal immigration, we will make no progress.” – Schumer, 2009

“We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented and unchecked” – Obama, 2005

“I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in. And I do think you have to control your borders.” –  Clinton, 2015

Students described the quotes as “dehumanizing,” “problematic” and “jingoist,” with one student dubbing it “hateful speech” and another claiming the comments contained “racial biases.”

The were in for a surprise, however, when Phillips informed that prominent Democrats actually made the remarks.

And for those who don’t believe their democrat idols would say such things, the proof is undeniable.

There’s an important lesson in all of this.

The ‘educated’ masses are learning to judge a book by it’s cover. Liberal universities coupled with the bias of the main stream media creates an anti-Trump atmosphere that defies common sense and poisons young minds. Over and over, we see leftists jumping to condemn President Trump regardless of the merit behind his words.

Just watch as these ‘high level thinkers’ showcase their ability to think critically.

So what’s a President to do?

If Obama was sitting in the Oval Office, he’d be desperate to play “Let’s Make a Deal.” As he did many times, Obama would just ditch his campaign promises to end the shutdown and save face. Trump prefers to play hardball. It’s “Deal or No Deal.” Democrats will fund the wall, or Trump will keep the shutdown.

Democrats can hide behind definitions of words like “barrier” versus wall, but in the end the wall will happen. So the only question is this: How should Trump respond to the shutdown?

I can tell you how he won’t respond. He won’t be a pansy jumping to accept whatever bones liberals want to toss his way.

In fact, he made that abundantly clear when reporters tossed out a few ideas Wednesday.

When Jon Karl, from ABC News, suggested Trump just sign a bill and jump start the government, Trump wasted no time turning the tables.

“Is that what you would do, Jon?” Trump repeatedly questioned back.

In fact, the whole exchange was less than a minute, but still long enough to showcase the ridiculousness of the MSM.

Trump: “Do you think I should do that?”

Karl: Y-you —

Trump: No, do you think I should do that, Jon?

Karl: I mean, it’s not for me to say.

Trump: I mean, I watch your one-sided reporting. Do you think I should do that? Hey Jon, no, seriously, Jon: Do you think I should just sign?

Karl: Well, the, the argument —

Trump: Tell me, tell me.

Karl: [Inaudible] It has nothing to do with border security.

Trump: Jon, do you think I should just sign?

Karl: I-I-I’m saying that if you sign that, these workers can start getting paid, the government can start —

Trump: So you would do that if you were in my position? You’d do that?

Karl: I’m not in your position, I’m asking you if —

Trump: I’m asking you: Would you do that if you were in my position? Because if you would do that, you should never be in this position. Because you’d never get anything done.

Holding Tough

A few hours later, Trump met with key officials. Then Nancy Pelosi once again shot down border security. But like Kevin Jackson said: negotiating with democrats is worse than negotiating with terrorists!

Afterwards, Chuck Schumer tried to gain sympathy, pretending the President walked out without cause. Sadly, some leftists will buy his “poor us” act. But the rest of us are just counting down. Soon there will be a ribbon cutting. And it will be at the wall.
