Why did disgraced former FBI Director James Comey bring up the phony Steele dossier to President Trump?
One former FBI lawyer explained that Comey tried a veiled attempt to blackmail the president.
As The Daily Caller reports:
A former top FBI lawyer said there was concern at the bureau that then-FBI Director James Comey was trying to blackmail then-President-elect Donald Trump with the notorious Steele dossier.
On Tuesday’s Yahoo News podcast “Skullduggery,” James Baker described the atmosphere as “quite worried” after Comey met with Trump on Jan. 6, 2017, shortly before his inauguration. Baker says the way Comey threw the dossier into Trump’s face, it was difficult not to draw “analogies” to the behavior of FBI founding Director J. Edgar Hoover, who ruled federal law enforcement for nearly 50 years.
“We were quite worried about the Hoover analogies, and we were determined not to have such a disaster happen on our watch,” Baker told Yahoo, referring to how Hoover successfully remained in control of the FBI because he knew the secret lives of American presidents.
Baker says although he can’t remember when he first learned of the dossier’s existence he believed the FBI needed to take the document “seriously”. He added that the FBI was “obligated to deal with it.”
But what Baker admits next is most revealing. According to Baker, the bureau always had doubt about the dossier’s authenticity, he claimed that Trump needed to know about it because the document was “about to be disclosed to the press.”
We no know that the “leaks” were part of the coup plot to give credibility to the bogus and now fully discredited document. Nevertheless, BuzzFeed published the details of the dossier on Jan. 10, 2017. The plan hatched, all the Leftists need to do is wait on Trump’s indictment. Or so they thought.
Comey will likely be the first high-profile Democrat to fall in this coup attempt. Almost all signs in the media point to him as the sacrificial lamb.
And who better for starters. Comey put this plan in motion, because that’s been his job for the Clintons for decades. Had Clinton won, Comey would be cleaner than a preacher’s sheets. But Clinton’s loss started dominoes falling that no DC swamp rat anticipated.
If you’re wondering why Democrats were so cocky about a Clinton win, it’s because they couldn’t dream of the alternative. Recall the utter despair in the aftermath of the election. But understand that the loss isn’t about ideology. Democrats’ gloomy faces on that night reflected their impending doom.
And so the coup continued. And Comey’s visit to President Trump to “share the dossier” represented the first step in the execution of the failed attempt to thwart the Trump presidency.
