The debates aren’t nearly as fun as the aftermath, when the factcheckers add their two cents.
Shockingly, Biden didn’t pick his words more carefully.
Not only did Biden take credit for the rise of ISIS power, but CNN actually connected the dots. That’s what you call two surprises in one.
It started with a question asking Biden about his role in the withdrawal of US Troops from Iraq in 2011.
This is what Biden said:
“Once (President George W. Bush) abused that power, what happened was we got elected after that … I made sure … (President Barack Obama) turned to me and said: ‘Joe get our combat troops out of Iraq.’ I was responsible for getting 150,000 combat troops out of Iraq. And my son was one of them.”
And here’s CNN’s response:
Facts First: Biden is correct that he oversaw the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq in 2011. But he left out a key point — three years later, US troops returned to Iraq to fight ISIS, which rose to power in the vacuum left, in part, by the withdrawal of American forces.
Biden voted to authorize military intervention in Iraq in 2002. Later, he became a critic of the Bush administration’s handling of the war. His son, Beau, also deployed to Iraq for a year in 2008, serving in an administrative post with the 261st Signal Brigade.
The withdrawal of roughly 150,000 US combat troops from Iraq became a major part of Biden and President Obama’s election platform in 2008 and ultimately, the last American convoy left the country in December 2011.
In 2014, the US sent a much smaller contingent of a few thousand soldiers back to Iraq as part of the campaign against ISIS after the terror group rose to power and claimed a significant portion of territory both in Iraq and Syria.
Ouch. According to Biden’s own bragging, his moves gave ISIS the green light to expand their reign of terror.
Game Over
Biden forgot to mention one other little tidbit. Donald Trump destroyed ISIS. In fact, we published a list of Trump’s accomplishments exactly a year ago, and the capture of five ISIS leaders was highlighted.
In March, NBC chronicled the collapse of the terrorist regime:
U.S.-backed fighters in Syria declared victory over Islamic State on Saturday, marking the apparent end of a years-long global campaign to break the extremist group’s hold on the region.
The capture of ISIS’ last, tiny enclave in the country’s south brings its self-proclaimed caliphate to territorial defeat.
…
On Friday, the White House said the Department of Defense declared that the militant group no longer held any territory in Syria. At around the same time, Trump tweeted that there was “nothing to admire” about ISIS.
The militants, meanwhile, put up a desperate fight. Thus, the American-backed Syrian Democratic Forces supported by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes had held off declaring victory.
At a victory ceremony near Baghouz on Saturday, a brass band in red and gold uniforms played the American national anthem in front of a stars and stripes flag and yellow militia banners. SDF leaders including both men and women sat watching.
Apparently Biden knows nothing of foreign relations. Therefore, Trump was forced to clean up another mess held over from the Obama Administration. But that seems to be Trump’s specialty- repairing the democrat damage done to our nation.
Biden Blunders
Unfortunately for Biden, his ISIS admission wasn’t his only blunder of the night.
Former Vice President Joe Biden said, “(Undocumented immigrants) in fact contribute to the well-being of the country. But they also, for example, increase the lifespan of social security. Because they have a job, they’re paying a social security tax. That’s what they’re doing. It’s increased the lifespan.”
Technically, this might be true.
Undocumented immigrants often pay into the Social Security system through payroll taxes, but typically do not receive benefits. According to a 2013 report by the Office of the Chief Actuary of the Social Security Administration, in 2010, undocumented immigrants paid about $12 billion more into the system than they received.
That could extend the period of solvency for the Social Security trust funds, which are currently projected to be depleted in 2035.
But in typical leftist fashion, Biden left out the rest of the story.
Illegal immigration to the U.S. costs federal, state and local taxpayers a staggering net cost of $116 billion a year. That’s an increase of some $16 billion compared to previous estimates – according to a new study released by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). The study is the most comprehensive to date on the cost to federal, state and local taxpayers of the nation’s 12.5 million illegal immigrants and their 4.2 million citizen children.
Apparently, liberals struggle to crunch the numbers, so let’s just break it down. Illegals immigrants cost us ten times more than they contribute. It’s basic math.
Leftists can deny the crime committed by illegals, but numbers don’t lie.
