AOC vs. Pelosi: Power Struggle Divides Dems

Life in the Democrat Party resembles something scripted for daytime television. I’m not sure if it’s the Days of Our Lives or Family Feud, but either way, Granny Pelosi decided it’s time to teach these youngsters how to mind their manners.

Twitter is no place to air your dirty laundry. Especially if you want to stay on the Speaker’s good side. But apparently, AOC thinks she’s in charge, despite her vast lack of knowledge about, well, anything.

Thus, AOC got the scolding she much deserves.

According to the NY Post:

Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday warned progressive members of Congress to stop tweeting insults at their moderate colleagues — as one of the apparent objects of her ire, Bronx/Queens Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, said the House speaker was giving her “busy” work to keep her occupied.

“I was assigned to some of the busiest committees and four subcommittees,” the rookie congresswoman told The New Yorker Radio Hour Tuesday. “So my hands are full. And sometimes I wonder if they’re trying to keep me busy.”

A day later, Pelosi highlighted the apparent rift between progressive and moderate Democrats, when she reportedly dished up a closed-door scolding over online trash-talking.

“So, again, you got a complaint? You come and talk to me about it,” Pelosi told Democrats, Politico reported. “But do not tweet about our members and expect us to think that that is just OK.”

When the dust settled, AOC had only one thing to say. “NO.” Just like a defiant little child, AOC rejected Granny’s words of wisdom.

Still Pouting

So what has AOC’s panties twisted in knots? If you guessed the Green New Deal, you got it.

AOC is still pouting over the committee dedicated to Climate Change. She was offered a seat and she turned it down. Of course, she wanted to immediately draft legislation to get rid of cows, eliminate fossil fuels and wipe us out financially for generations to come. But, when her ideas generated more laughs than Chris Rock, live, AOC tucked her tail and ran.

None of those requests were accommodated, and so I didn’t join the committee,” she said.

AOC thinks her ideas were rejected because she’s a woman. Only problem is- that argument is null and void against Pelosi. So, AOC plays the race card. It’s the next best thing.

As Newt Gingrich put it:

“Everything becomes either an attack on women, but since Pelosi is a woman, it has to be women of color,” Gingrich said. “The key thing here is very simple. We have now seen a group of genuine radicals who are way outside any reasonable position, and their public spokesperson is AOC.

“They have a deep bitter difference with Nancy Pelosi, who is an old-time liberal, representing an establishment, which these people, several of these people beat Democratic incumbents, so they come in as the opponents of the very things that Nancy Pelosi stands for,” he continued.

Cat-Fight

So what we’ve got here is a good old-fashioned cat fight. But don’t let AOC hear you call it that. Apparent, “cat-fight” isn’t very PC.

Pelosi might be pretty old, but I have a feeling she can still take on AOC. I say we put up a boxing ring and give them both a pair of gloves and sell tickets. It might be the only way democrats can command a crowd these days. Because this is a power struggle and the real issue at heart is leadership.

Pelosi’s the boss. AOC wants to be the boss. And the turmoil will continue until they duke it out.

Divided Dems

Right now, AOC’s freshman squad includes Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass. Together, the four of them work to ruffle Pelosi’s feathers. However, Madame Speaker is unphased. In fact, she’s standing her ground.

“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world, but they didn’t have any following. They’re four people, and that’s how many votes they got.”

Clearly, Pelosi believes Ocasio-Cortez is ultimately powerless. However, AOC’s rebellion comes at a bad time for democrats. Pelosi caters towards more moderate dems, while AOC gives voice to the radicalized progressive representatives. If AOC can pull enough democrats to her side, the party could face a fracture impossible to mend.

That’s good news for conservatives, because they more democrats work to destroy each other, the less conservatives have to do to keep the Oval Office and win back the house.
