Biden Climate Nominee Supports Green Energy Rip-Off

In the latest spin from Democrats, we learn the pandemic was actually “good for us.”

In fact, we should thank our lucky stars the WuFlu came around and restored life to a slower pace.

I’m all for stopping to smell the roses, but this pandemic already racked up $16 trillion in debt. And that’s a conservative figure. But leave it to leftists to try to convince us that rotten potatoes are the best cuisine ever.

That’s exactly what Biden’s pick for an environmental champion tried to do. No surprise, this woman happens to be an Obama holdover.

As Fox News writes:

Monica Medina, the president’s nominee for assistant secretary of the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Science Affairs, wrote about the “environmental upside” of the pandemic in March 2020 and called for the economy to be restructured around “green” jobs.

Medina is an Obama administration alum and also the wife of Biden’s White House chief of staff, Ron Klain.

“In the midst of the economic and health tragedy posed by the coronavirus pandemic, there is an unexpected bright side: the marked improvement in our environment as a result of the massive slowdown,” Medina and her co-author, Our Daily Planet founder Miro Korenha, wrote in a Washington Post op-ed.

“With that comes a responsibility as well — to recover and rebuild in a way that helps deal with the challenge that will persist once the virus is under control,” the pair continued.

Sidebar: I love Mother Earth. When I take my kids to the lake, we pick up trash. We do our best to reduce, reuse and recycle. And I do believe that at some point, we need to pivot towards renewable energy. But there’s a little something called a BCR.

Benefit Cost Ratio

A BCR, or benefit-cost ratio, is a numerical way to decide whether something brings enough value to the table to justify the costs.

Sadly, most renewable energy ideas are in the red when it comes to BCR. In fact, Obama wasted $150 BILLION for a one percent gain in green energy.

As we previously explained:

Going green became the catchphrase for government larceny under Obama. The man put PT Barnum to shame, as he billed himself as a friend to the environment. Thus, Obama preached about renewable energy and sustainable sources.

As the saying goes, “There’s a sucker born every minute,” so Obama suckered many Americans.

In fact, Obama spent nearly $40 billion a year on green energy projects. This is an amazing figure, particularly considering all America got for the money.

Nothing.

For decades, green energy supporters touted solar energy as the answer. However, the solar energy industry cannot support itself without massive government subsidies. The average homeowner would need a $30,000 system just to save $2,000 a year. And who really knows what the savings are, given the Obama administration’s “fake data.”

Regardless, even using their numbers it would take 15 years just to recover one’s initial investment. Since the average home owner stays in their house less than 13 years, a buyer never recovers his or her investment. However, as we’ve learned with Leftists, their policies aren’t about saving taxpayers money or doing something amazing for the cause.

And it gets worse. These solar companies couldn’t support themselves. At the time of the article, forty of these green energy companies receiving massive government subsidies were already bankrupt, or headed that way! And Obama just kept feeding them funds to make it look like we were achieving some green energy wet dream.

Which brings me back to Medina. What’s her answer to this problem?

More “free” money!

“Now is also the time to make the pivot to sustainability,” the pair wrote. “More stimulus funding will be needed to recover our economic vitality — to get businesses up and running again and to create jobs to replace the ones that are gone for good.”

“Why shouldn’t these new jobs be green jobs, such as ones to restore coastlines, help build renewable energy infrastructure and grow our food more sustainably?” they asked.

Hmmm. I think the answer is BCR. You just can’t have what you can’t afford. It’s that simple. But if we think Obama buried climate change in almost all his legislation, I’m petrified to see Joey Demento’s moves. Obama made climate change expenditures difficult to track and even more difficult to remove. Meanwhile, he sunk billions of our dollars with nothing to show for it. Get ready, because Biden will multiply that negative BCR by a thousand. And that’s a conservative estimate.
